Today we took a day trip to Luxembourg City...the train ride was about three hours and was, to me, almost the best part of the trip...the country is beautiful and gets progressively so the closer to the border and closer to the mountains you get...we spent a little time in the city exploring and had a great time...we are now on our last day in Bruxelles...most of the day is preparation for the rest of the trip which will be spent driving aimlessly through wine country near the Rhine...we have an idea of where our destinations are, but depending on how it times out, we may stray a bit...going to have lunch and then admire some of what's left of the art noveau movement here before saying goodbye to Belgium...talk to you soon...... read more

Right now, we are sort of stationed in Brussels...All the traveling and walking for the first few days was very tiresome, so we are just kind of taking it easy here...The last two days we did some typical sightseeing like the Grote Markt and the cathedral...everything is beautiful here...it is very hilly and hot though so it is good we have some time....we are staying a little outside of town which is nice because there are fruit markets, laundry, and nice quiet cafes that we can check out...but also beautiful parks everywhere...We are having a lazy day at the park today to re-coup...but tomorrow we might take a day trip to Luxemborg City...which should be beautiful...then the 4th of July back here in Brussels...hope everyone has a good holiday and we will check in again soon... ... read more

We are in Bruges. It is really beautiful like they say it is, but it is absolutely packed with tourists. So we are trying to take it in away from the main areas. Today we rented bicycles, which has been really great. We have seen so many backstreets and canals. We will probably go to the store later and get sandwiches and take them to a park near the windmills and just hang out. So far getting around has been fairly easy, even though we don't speak the language. We will probably leave here tomorrow and head toward Brussels. We will stay there for six days, probably taking day trips, we're not really sure yet. It's been really nice not knowing where we're going until we get there...sorry about short posts, but internet hasnt been as ... read more

Today we left Rotterdam and took the train to Antwerp for a short day trip. It's a great place to just walk around and just take it in. We walked from the central station to the waterfront. The archetecture is beautiful, and the shopping abundant (unfortunately we weren't really there for that). We came across a few markets, including a little flea market in a square that had a lot of interesting memorabilia. It was a really nice time, but we cut it a little short to make our way to Bruges. ... read more

Hey everyone! Thanks for all the kind wishes...We are in the Netherlands and enjoying every second...Currently we are in Rotterdam enjoying an evening of relaxation...Our first two days in Amsterdam and first day here tired us out...There's so much we've done already that I don't know where to start...Good food, great beer, awesome views from our hotel, and good company from our friends and fellow travelers sums up our time in Amsterdam...We have a full day planned in Rotterdam tomorrow...then off to Antwerpen and Brugges...would provide more detail, but unfortunately I'll have to save that for later...Instead I''ll just leave you with photos, and a promise that I'll update again soon! ... read more

Pre-Trip Okay, so we haven't left yet. I have one week of school and work left, so the fact that we are leaving soon hasn't even registered yet. To say we aren't 100% ready yet would be an overstatement, but who knows? Maybe that will work out in our benefit. I really wanted to write a pre-trip blog to make sure I'm doing this right and make everyone aware of it. I will try to update at least a few times to let everyone know where we are and flash a few pictures. We are leaving the 23 June, we are doing Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Brussels, Antwerp, Bruges, Ghent, and the Rhine Valley (supposedly, anyway). So we'll try to keep in touch! Talk to you soon from abroad! ... read more
