Summary: Elephant riding Bamboo Rafting Trekking Read more... For the second day that I am in Chiang Mai I have booked a tour that has a little bit of everything since my time in Chiang Mai is short I feel that it is the best way to maximise my time in Chiang Mai. I booked a tour through the hostel that I am staying. I wasn't really happy with the tour, not because it poorly run or too expensive more because it wasn't really what I expected. It didn't really wow me or inspire to see more of the north part of Thailand. I being to realise that I really only like things that really knock your socks off, something that is really really adventure driven like skydiving or white water rafting, or something really crazy. ... read more

Summary: Dozy house Bus station for tickets to Chiang Khong Night Markets Read more... We arrive in Chiang Mai earlier than expected even after the bus arrived about 45minutes late in Mo Chit bus station. Chiang Mai has a completely different feel to that of Bangkok, a lot more laid back, there are a lot less people, the population density and just the cleanliness of the surroundings is day and night. One of the other things that I noticed is that the air is definitely cleaner. My accommodation in Chiang Mai has been pre-booked at Dozy House via hostelworld.com, I picked Dozy House mainly because it was the top rated hostel for the Chiang Mai area and the price per night was very reasonable. Dozy House is located just off the main block. The block is ... read more

Summary: "Bangkok Floating Markets" tour by Bangkok Food Tours Bangkok to Chiang Mai - Overnight bus Read more... I have booked for today the off beat Floating Markets tour by Bangkok Food Tours, the tour itinerary consists of a visit to the Train Market (see YouTube clip below), the Tak ha Floating Market, Bang Noi Floating Market, Bang Kung Navy Camp and Amphawa Floating Market. I initially thought that the day would go from 0715 to 2100 however I would later find out that the day actually would run from 0715 to 1800, not of a great concern to me. Would have been nice to have been on an earlier "better" bus. This meant that I needed to change my bus ticket from First Class to Gold Class (it turns out Gold class was pretty darn ... read more

Summary: Cannel boat Wat Rachanaddarm Wat Pho Wat Arun Bicycle tour of Bangkok Maccers Read more... The trend of me awaking up much much too early continued, however this time I actually needed to be up early. Today was the day that I set a side to visit the popular and not so popular wat's around Bangkok. The three most popular wats are Wat Arun (A), Wat Pho (P) and the Grand Palace (GP). One other one that i also recommend is Wat Rachanaddaram (R) which not as popular and hence not as touristy as the other three, the perplexing this is that after visiting Wat Pho and Wat Arun, Wat Rachanaddaram is probably the nicest, the best maintained and also the cheapest of the three that I visited today. As opposed to taking a tour ... read more

Summary: Overnight in Singapore Laptop breaks down Scoot checked-in luggage drama Local Singaporian food Singapore MTR Read more... It's day two and the unthinkable has happened, my notebook is playing up. On top of my phone getting smashed this is obviously not ideal. But not a show stopper by any means, more than likely I'll try get it fixed in Bangkok. That should be an adventure and a story all on its own. Anyway i leave Criag's place at 10am to go and explore sg's food offerings on the back of a number of recommendations from the lonley planet. I hail a cab on the main road (River Valley rd), and ask the driver to take us to Purvis st and Seah st respectively. They are both with in a short of each other. The first ... read more

Summary: Sydney to Singapore Read more... I am finally here at Sydney Airport, Kingsford smith. After checking in I drag myself towards the departure gates of Terminal 1, it was then that I realised that I didn't have any cash for the taxi when I got to Singapore. I roll up to a Travel Lex, the rate that they offer me to buy AUD for Thai Baht and Singapore Dollar is 24 and 1.03 respectively, I look at him in amazement, the rate for Thai Baht vs AUD is 30 to 1 and the rate for SGD to AUD is 1.25 to think that they almost make 20% is interesting to say the least. Expensive to say the least, anyway I am going to try my luck in Singapore. I guess worse comes to worse I'll ... read more
