Great City

South America » Peru » Cusco » Cusco
Well we arrived to cusco after another wonderful bus ride from san martin. We purposely avoided this bus company because of our bus ride from hell from tacono to puno. Well the buss ride wouldnt have been to bad i guess if the butcher didnt decide to come aboard. Why of all people the butcher decided to set up shop next to me i dont know. Now you are all wondering what exactly is this butcher....so this lady comes aboard with a bag with a dead chicken and starts hacking away at it and selling it to people on board. She [View Full Entry]

Well our group at first were going to wake up at 4:30 am to hike up machu picchu, but after three days of hiking we decided to take the bus up. We arrived to watch the sunrise over the mountains. The area around macchu picchu is amazing. The clouds go straight through the mountains. After we watched the sunrise we learned about the incas and the histroy of macchu picchu., which was found by a yale professor in 1911. Now i would love to give you a history lesson of the area, but i swear my mind has been completly shut [View Full Entry]

Unfortunetly me and linda waited to long to book the inca trail so we had to do an alternative trek...which was amazing. We began by waking up at 6 am and driving two hours through calca to start our hike. We walked through the scared valley to the Machacancha thermo-medicinal springs. The hike was nice, very scenic with lush mountains, the river, tombs in the mountains, and lots and lots of alpaca and llamas. We stopped to have lunch at the hot springs and relax in the springs as well. We then continued our hike to our first campsite. Along the [View Full Entry]

Well lake titicaca was a beautiful place. Unfortuntely it was a little hard for me to fully enjoy it because I was very sick the whole time. We first arrived in puno after 2 days of bus rides. The city was cute but there was not a whole lot to do. As soon as we arrived there was some sort of parade going on. Im not sure for what exactly but everyone had sign that said i love jesus, jesus is my friend, etc. After the parade we decided to learn about coca, at the coca meuseum. The museum had two [View Full Entry]

San Pedro is a tiny town of only about 5,000 people. It has cute adobe churches, small shops, and tons of places to dine. Although there is not much to do in the town it is the surrounding area that is amazing. Mountains, san dunes, etc, a lot of the area looks almost to perfect as if in a painting. The first morning we awoke at 330 to go watch the sunrise over some geysers. The geyesers were absolutely amazing. I have never seen anythng like it. Well i wish i could come up with some amazing description of them, but [View Full Entry]

Well Im sorry if the next few blogs are short. I am sick and i think my memory is a little shot. There will also be no more pics. Me and linda both dont have digitals anymore so we have forced to use an old school camera. Well our first day in the city was a little hectic. We ended up getting very lost and ended up getting a nice tour of the more ghetto area of the city. The area hills are stacked with houses in which they have elevators that will take you to your house. By the time [View Full Entry]

Wine Country

South America » Argentina » Mendoza
i arrived in Mendoza in not the greatest of moods, but i guess thats what happens when you get your stuff jacked. Mendoza is a beautiful city near the border of chile. They produce somewhere around 60 percent of all wine in argentina. We decided to do a wine tour through our hostel. The tour consisted of going to two wineries and two food production companies. Both wineries were small one produced about 1 mil liter and the other 4 mil liter of wine per year. After we learned how the wine was made we got to try two types of [View Full Entry]

Driving from Mendoza to Chile was beautiful. You have the snow caped andes surounding you. We arrive and santiago which would be absolute amazing, if you could see the mountains through the smog. After checking in to the coolest hostel we have been in thus far, it was a mansion converted into a hostel, we awaited lindas friend to show us around. Well by the time we met up it was late so we got the driving tour through town and then went to some small bars to chat. The next day we started our adventures by going to st lucia. Well before this trip I have to say when i thought of beunos aires i thought of one thing...Evita. Eventhough our first day was off to a very rocky start, I have to say that this is on my list of favorite cities. I may not have tons and tons of sites to see but there is a lot of culture and is just a fun city to be in. We started our tour of the city by of course visiting the Evita museum...it is such a shame she died so young. We continued our tour of city seeing the [View Full Entry]

The first time I heard about the falls was on plane ride from brisbane to sydney. the guy sitting next to me had just spent 8 months traveling around south america and told us about these awesome falls on the border of argentina and brazil. Throughout our time in brazil we were constantly told about these great waterfalls...so of course we were super excited to witness it ourselves. At first we went to the brazilian side, the smaller side which only taked about an hour to see. This side gives you a general overview of the falls. We were both [View Full Entry]
