On August 6th, 1945, the world's first atomic bomb was detonated over Hiroshima, Japan. 60 years later, I was fortunate enough to attend the Peace Ceremonies, commerating the 60th anniversary of this tragic event. Early in the day, at 8:15 a.m. when the bomb was originally dropped, there was a formal ceremony held, in which many people attended, including Prime Minister Koizumi. Because of the early time (which I'm sure is a surprise to all of you who know me well, as you know what an early riser I can be!), and my ongoing orientation to the bus system (I had just arrived 3 days earlier!), I didn't attend.
