Chuseok, Gwangju and the ultimate question - how many Soju shots is too many? - this is a question I inevitably attempted to answer this weekend in the wonderful world of the 5 day weekend! Thursday morning 5pm I wake up, drag my overly tired arse into the shower and attempt to run through what it is I have to do today. Having pack last night in a particulary unconscous state I soon realised that re-packing was needed and time was slowly running out.... After throwing the remainder of my half washed, vaguely ironed clothes into a bag I rush out of the door and head to the subway station. Trying something new is always an experience. Whether it's a good or bad experience is quite another matter! Take for example food: Thursday night me and my colleagues went out to dinner and had Sam Gyup Sal - Grilled pork and kimchi wrapped in lettuce leaves and it was amazing! Korean food has such a great social element to it, it's all about sharing and experiencing new flavours. - definitely a huge tick in the good experience column. I thought as my new American friend Pam was going through the various do's and don'ts of Korean Culture... ...After all coming from the land where queuing is not only a necessity but a national past time, the idea of someone being what I would term as rude and instead of berated with a barrage of tutting, that being the normal behavior is an odd concept. - I am of course not including that delightful subspecies of our Kingdom, The Chav, to whom manners are not ... read more

I'm here, I'm safe I'm now apparently a teacher! After a 10 hour flight - can you believe how quickly you can get across the world? - I arrived and was picked up at the airport by a taxi - he had my name on a placard so I felt it rude not to go, and he dropped me off at the school - who were very surprised to see me - apparently they were expecting me to go to the apartment first! The aparetment is adorable and has two floors - well 1 and a 1/2 floors as you cant stand up upstairs unless you are 2ft 3! I have a western style bed which is downstairs so upstairs is currently vacant apart from my suitcase! The flight itself was fine though I was sat ... read more
