I'm here, I'm safe I'm now apparently a teacher!
After a 10 hour flight - can you believe how quickly you can get across the world? - I arrived and was picked up at the airport by a taxi - he had my name on a placard so I felt it rude not to go, and he dropped me off at the school - who were very surprised to see me - apparently they were expecting me to go to the apartment first!
The aparetment is adorable and has two floors - well 1 and a 1/2 floors as you cant stand up upstairs unless you are 2ft 3! I have a western style bed which is downstairs so upstairs is currently vacant apart from my suitcase!
The flight itself was fine though I was sat next to 2 Korean girls who can only be described as having the smallest bladders known to man - more fool me for taking the aisle seat!
But then again had I not taken the aisle seat I don't know what I would have done as Asiana Airline - though abundent with leg room - are not made for the larger person! - thankfully having the aisle seat allowed my arse to be hanging in the aisle for the majority of the journey!
After I went to my aparetment Ben came over and took me out for some food. Armed with only chocolate buttons I bought in the airport - the one thing I knew I'd miss just too much going out for food was a necessity! A little nervous about my first Korean food experience, I followed Ben and I had Kimbop - It's fried rice and vegetables wrapped in seaweed and it's delicious!!!! very similar in texture to the sushi you get in England but soooo much tastier!!!! - so far foodwise I'm impressed.
We then went to costco, which just as insane as the one back in Nottingham consists of large amount of things that frankly you didn't need anyway. The usual assortment of clothes, furniture and something pretending to be food it's all there and in bulk! - if I need 14 toothbrushes I know where to go! More American orientated that European - frozen corndogs and all - it seems to be a half way house between Korean food and Western. With bulk buy noodles and reeses pieces so interesting meals could be arranged out of that place! Still I bought the essentials - bottled water and toilet roll and off we went!
It is HOT here, humidity is high and there's a fog that seems to engulf the air around. But most places are air conditioned - including my apartment - thank goodness! so you only really notice it walking around.
I rode the bus today - an interesting experience as the driving over here makes mine look safe and reassuring! But I arrived at my destination in one piece and on time! - something Nottingham city transport is still eagerly waiting to achieve!
So far I've been surprised, baffled, sweated out half my body weight but I think I'm going to really like it here!
