Travellers from within,
our feet get tooo itchy to stay in one place too long....there are too many amazing, wonderous, inconceivably beautifulful places in this world that we need to explore,
so the start,....(proper start)..2nd August 2010......300 days of sunshine coming up 😊

Asia » Singapore » Geylang September 7th 2010

The adventures begin,...Singapore.... A little disappointed that the first leg of our Asian adventures seemed so westernised, definitely not what I was imagining and so expensive, we only had 2 days here and yet we managed to spend at least 3 weeks worth of our budget, not a good start, though to be honest every country we'd been to so far we have spent more than our allocated budget, I guess that's just one of those things. Either way we tried to make the most of Singapore, we trekked out to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, took the jungle path up the hill which in high humidity was quite exhausting but extremely exhilarating, I loved it, our first taste of a tropical rainforest, I'd been so looking forward and I wasn't at all disappointed. Better yet there ... read more

London Stopover..... First of all we decided to take a couple of family outings, one of which was to the Notting hill street carnival. Although the food is very much like the food you get at Afrophingston in Switzerland the actual carnival it's self is unlike anything I have ever seen, the costumes are amazing, so brightly colourful and some are so creative and the beats just force you to move your feet. After the carnival and spending some long over due time at my mum's, enjoying mum and Bill's company and general recharging our batteries we decided to book a hostel in London central for a couple of days so we could take in the sights and sounds of the bustling city, as well as meet up with and spend some time with Simon's mum, ... read more

North America » United States » New York » New York » Manhattan August 26th 2010

Last stop, New York City.... Even though we were only in New York for 4 days or so we managed to cram so much in that if feels like we were there for at least a full week, and yet there were still things that we didnt have time to do. The hostel we were staying at was pretty cool, brightly decorated and a great atmosphere, met a good couple of people on our first night there as we decided to take part in one of their nightly drinking competition - always a great way to make new friends :) New York itself was amazing, we loved it. So much so that we could both see our selves living there one day, though 6 months tops, remember we do own that t.shirt now that states 'allergic ... read more

North America » United States » Maine » Bar Harbor August 22nd 2010

Week 3, Camping in America During the previous week Simon and I have been trying to sort out renting a car, much to our misfortune we were unable as the car rentals decide that the person driving the car must also be the person paying for the car and therefore hold a credit card, which Simon does not, well, did not own at this point in time. Luckily enough Claire and Ian have some great neighbours who are also close friends of theirs, Mary Ellen and Paul lent Claire one of their cars so Claire was able to lend us her very nice Subaru Forester, perfect! We loaded the car up and headed out early Monday morning, destination - Bar Harbour in Acadia National Park, our American Road Trip was under way :) We had decided ... read more

North America » United States » Maine » Brunswick August 15th 2010

Week 2 Ok, so now we've been here over a week and I think the Jet lag has finally disappeared, although we are still waking up at 7.30 :(...uuurrg! This week has been just as amazing as the first, we were lucky enough to be able to borrow Claire and Ian's bikes so we could cycle around the area and explore, we've cycled into Brunswick main town, which was exhausting considering we went the wrong way at first and added on a extra 40mins onto our trip, muppets, I know! But it was worth it as we stopped for some Dairy-free, Coconut ice cream (wow btw folks, definitely worth trying, its delish) and some of the best fruit smoothies we have ever had, thanks to 'The Little Dog Coffee Shop', if you ever get a chance, ... read more

:) WEEK 1 BLOG WRITTEN UNDER ARRIVAL......... ARRIVAL And so after a 7 1/2 hr, quite pleasant flight filled with so so many films, TV shows and games we arrived in Newark Airport, just outside New York. Like any other airport its big and expensive, we walked around for a wee while getting our bearing and trying to find a place to eat that would work with my Dairy Intolorence, most of the places are big fast food, greasy eateries, the people serving in them are quite large people which for me makes it quite funny, its almost an advertisement 'eat here if you want to end up Huge like me', so if you watching your waistband this certainly acts as a great deterrent. We found a place called 'Greenleaf's Grill' at the food court,... wow, ... read more
