This entry is for my mom. I know it is a little glum but my mothers passing has become a big part of this journey of mine. I wanted to honour her and also all of the people who have been so amazingly supportive during this time. My mom was sick with Multiple Sclerosis for many years and despite her struggle always managed to keep a smile on her face and a smile on the faces of those around her. For this I admire her more than words can say, her strength and her spirit is something we can all learn from. Life is not always easy and can sometimes be very cruel but we are all capable of choosing how we deal with what is thrown at us and in her case she dealt ... read more

Chris, Fergus and I arrived in Mtata at around 3:00 and then had to wait until around 4:30 for the Baz bus from the other direction to get there. She shuttle out to Coffee Bay took about an hour and a half...I thought it would be about 45 minutes but I had heard wrong so the guys were not impressed! We got there around six and Fran and Thommo just happened to be there so it was awesome to meet up with them again! We went for sundowners at a lookout point and then had an amazing dinner. I have to say that the Xhosa bread they make in Coffee Bay is the best bread I have ever had. I looked forward to that part of the meal every night! Coffee Bay was pretty amazing. ... read more

Alright then…next chapter. I left Jo-Berg on the morning of February 12th on the Baz bus and headed to Swaziland. I met Kelly on the Baz bus on the way there and she just so happened to be staying at the same hostel as I was. We got there around 6:30pm checked in and I pretty much just sat around and waited for dinner. Dinner was great, I think it was chilli over sugar beans….I really had no idea what they were but did manage to figure it out a bit later. After eating a bit of mouldy cake for desert YUM I headed down to the bar and ended up chatting with Kelly all night. Oh yah and Dave the barman. Kelly is such an awesome chick so we hit it off right away ... read more

First of all, sorry for the lack of pictures. I didn’t bring the camera out too much because I didn’t want it to get stolen. Okay so I spent a week in Jo-Berg with Lise which was great aside from the fact that I got sick. I think it was from swallowing a bit too much of the Zambezi while I was rafting. I went to the doctor and she said I was fine and pretty much just had to wait it out. There was also an almost overdose at the hostel we were staying at which was a bit freaky since it was me and another girls who found him. Nothing like walking out of your dorm to someone convulsing on the floor. He was okay in the end which is good but they ... read more

Okay so on the 15th of January we set off on our overland tour from the Ritz backpackers in Jo-Berg. It was Lise, Lukxmi and I that went together and then there was also a older couple on the tour Cliff and Roz and three Australians, Jackie and Stacey who were together and then another girl who came on her own Oh and of course our tour guide Alf. Our First stop was Robbers pass to cool off the brakes and then we paused for a bit in Pilgrims rest which was the first place in South Africa that gold was found. Really not much to talk about when it comes to this town...so I won’t. We had lunch in Grasskop and then drove to Gods window. The view here was beautiful so we hiked ... read more

Hello All Welcome to my adrenaline page! I know it has been forever since I have written a blog and I should really be filling you in on my life for the past 6 months....and I will I promise...just thought I should close this chapter first! To be honest I thought I had already published this entry...ooops! So I decided that January was my month of adrenaline....or at least it was the start of my adrenalinejunkiness! I am actually wishing that I could have gone skydiving as well but the money situation didn't’t quite allow for it. Oh well another time! This was a good way to start out the New Year! First of all I decided that it would be a good idea to go bungee jumping. The thing is that there really is no ... read more

Hello all I am sorry that it has taken me so long to write another blog, I have been out in the middle of nowhere for the last while and the internet connection has been down. Wooooo fun! Okay so I will have to fill you in on all my adventures since Christmas. We went out to Jefferies Bay on the 27th for a few days to meet some of the girls from our original volunteer orientation group. We stayed at this hostel called Island Vibe which as you can see from the pictures is right on the beach. I loved it there. The atmosphere took a little getting used to though seeing as they partied until about 4am every night. It took me a bit but I finally figured out that if I just join ... read more

Hi All Merry Christmas and Happy New year as I probably won't be adding another one of these before then. Well things have been pretty much the same for the most part. We went to church on Christmas morning which was a bit weird especially since it was the first time going to church in like ten years. It was the same as I remembered it. It was an Anglican church so it was just like home. After church we got ready to work and then found out we didn't have to. So then came the many changes of clothing. It got really hot really fast so every time I put something on I decided that it was too hot for whatever I was wearing and then had to change. I don't know if I just ... read more

Hello all This last week was a very short work week! We went back to the reserve on Sunday night, worked Monday and then headed off on tuesday for our trip to Cape Town. We got to go on the Lion walk with Colin and Annetti on Monday morning alone so it was well worth all the good pictures! Just got back from Capetown yesterday so now I am back in quiet old PE. We went there for our Christmas beach party which was okay but a bit boring. We all ended up leaving early and sitting on the balcony at Zula in Cape Town for hours listening to live music and drinking. I have to say that I couldn't be happier to be where I am right now. I am having a hard time thinking ... read more
