I did a tour of the city today, which included the killing fields of choeung ek, tuol sleng museum, the national museum, and the royal palace. You read stories and watch movies about genocide, but i must say its very different first hand. Its hard to put into words the amount of anger, confusion, and sadness i felt over the day so just check out the pictures for yourself. Killing Fields of Choeung Ek Between 1975 and 1978 about 17,000 men, women, children and infants who had been detained and tortured at S-21 (tuol sleng) were transported to this extermination camp. they were often beaten to death in one form or another instead of 'wasting' bullets. the remains of 8985 people, many of whom were bound and blindfolded, were exhumed in 1980 from mass graves in
