I Miss Qingdao
I really like what you posted on the blog. I am from Qingdao and the pictures and messages make me home sick. Qingdao beer and gala are the most delicious food there. The landscape is also great since they have mountains, beaches...

Schlaefer- You're in Asia again now? This is Ted Weisman, from CET last summer. I'm living in Shenzhen now, and I'll be here until June. We should meet up sometime if you're in or near China.

John, Sorry I missed by hours in Minnesota on Sunday. I flew out at 11:30 AM & I think you flew in hours later. Did you enjoy the Blue Door??? Great deep fried green beans!!

Update?
Hey, where are those updates? It's been half a month. You are home right now, aren't you? I might have to try another call to the Tibetan plateau. Finals come up for me on Friday, and I have a test tomorrow afternoon (which frankly has me angered beyond reason at the moment). Nothing too exciting here. You?

John, Your Dad introduced me to the Wilbur Smith novels and I ended up reading ALL of them... 1600's to 1900's...That's one of the reasons I ended up in south Africa...LOL

Good
Cool altimitre. Although it was a 32 hour train ride on a hard seat, and you have seen some military, China is impressive with what they have developed in such a short period of time. One might be grateful for them enabling the experience, and grateful for the 'management' protecting the experience...........

In China, at an any given exit/entry bureau the rules for visas can change on any given day and any given individual can accept or deny your application at their own discretion. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The US embassy/consular officers in China also accept or deny the visa application at their own discretion or mood. Also they can give a Proper reason.

Hang in there!
Hi John, I (we ) have been very worried about you and your situation. I am glad to hear from your blog and your mom that things are turning around. I love to read your stories and see your pictures. Something struck me kinda funny the other day when I was looking at your photos of you and the "birthday boy"... with your longer hair and beard... well not the beard - I think Baby Jack looks like you:) Anyway - take care of yourself and keep writing and taking photos. I have been asked how long you plan to be over there- any idea? xoxo take care Jenny
