Hey guys, have been following the blog religiously and I am very jealous, looks like you are having an awesome time. Even the parents have subscribed now. Your pictures and blog are amazing, though I have no idea how you are able to get access to a pc or find the time to write them in all these exotic locations! I bet Liverpool seems a million miles away now.
I see Sams beard is developing well, though the hair seems to be getting shorter to compensate. The Robinson Crusoe look can’t be far away now. I’m disappointed that Laura is not showing any signs of going for the more well-travelled , rugged look too though!
Cheers for the birthday message, job's going well, they have the steel frame up now so at least it fits on the site, still very busy though. Need to get myself organised though as we are being audited next week. Currently planning the next snowboarding trip but i’ll try to come back with all bones in tact this time!
Make sure you keep up the good work, it makes for far more positive viewing at lunchtime than BBC news!
Lots of love to you both, take care.
Stu

I want a long blue velvet cord duffle coat. I'm even feeling the love for the tweed suit but mostly i want a long blue velvet cord duffle coat cos it sounds ace. And i'm jealous of the cocktails on the beach cos thats always amazing even in the rain. We watched a massive lightening storm on the beach in cuba-we didn't have a cocktail but we had a half bottle of rum poured into a coke bottle.....in fact, i'm not gonna make a tea i'm gonna have me a rum and coke and watch the boats on the mersey for a bit. It's not the same as travelling but it's a close second :) Oh and Sam you are right, the best bit about travelling is deffo the people you meet and the funny things you see...wait to you see amazing scenes every day in NZ. i actually caught myself saying, 'oh, another beautiful waterfall' in a slightly dissapointed voice once. seriously, what an idiot!!!! And don't get me started on taking amazing beaches for granted. By the way, your photos so far are brill. I love the one of laura in the russian train station and i think the beard is excellent and should have its own blog. x
I love capitalist tosh! Hello both-after a bonkers few weeks i am going to endeaver to catch up and write a comment on each blog-starting with this one. I mostly agree with your comments HOWEVER although i wouldn't hurry back to HK I quite liked the sheer bonkers-ness (is that a word?!) of it. I found an aussie themed bar when i was there that had a house american jazz band and sold belgian beer...extremely odd but one of my fave bars. I was also suffering from horrific jet lag when i was there and went out at 5am one morning for a tuna-filled sweet roll..which i wouldn't recommend at that hour of the day but it was really peaceful then. Anywho, am gonna have a cup 'o' tea and a cig and then i'll be back on the next blog!!!! xxxxxxx
Just emailed you Laura and then came on here, woowwww! Looks like you are having an amazing time! Hope you are both well and enjoying yourselves (looks like you are). Ames.xx
Hue Sapa was good, and then we did the obligatory Halong Bay cruise. Now Tuesday (Oct 13) we are in Hue and there is no typhoon leftovers. We plan to spend 4 (more or less) days here than move on to Hoi An. Perhaps we'll see you later.
Thanks for the read Very much enjoyed your description of Hong Kong. Its sounds remarkably like Singapore but even more so! We were glad we had seen it but would never go again. I would imagine you feel much the same about Hong Kong.
We love reading your blog. Thanks for all you put into it.
Anne and Phil
Typhoon Alright mate
We are going to go to a few tour places today and see what they say. Might head down to the Mekong Delta for a few days and give it a bit longer before heading north.
What is Sapa like?
typhoon What are your plans for Vietnam looking like? We are in Sapa, and would like to head down to Hue, Hoi An, Danang, etc., but we are still unsure about the extent of the flood damage. We have heard a few exciting stories about leaving hotels in boats, but nothing more recent.
hmm I am now even more jealous dudes. glad you are lovin it. glad the beard is goin well and laura is sweating for a whole nation!! bring me back a fish sausage....... there is definately a joke in there somewhere i reckon........ :)
Your awake... Glad to read your both enjoying your travels, and that you have managed to see so much already - even though you have slept a lot! Looking forward to the next photos. Enjoy, enjoy enjoy. Lots of love. Joey xx
Beard I have a moustache as well, and it's pretty long... but it's so blonde you can't see it. Still, better than Kristian's efforts over the past 6 years so that keeps me smiling. Glad you're loving Holland. Say hi to Bren for me
Ta la
general comment Photos are great: some good compositional work! Sam: beard is looking rad. Keep it up. Both the growth and the travelling. First one back to the UK is a loser (I'm staying in de Nederlands FOREVER). I'm sure you chosen expat destination will be sunnier here (FFS).
Have a nice Asian adventure guys, James
WHAT?!?! I have muchly enjoyed reading these updates I must admit... Sam I think you should be the one who has an MA in Creative Writing rather than I, or perhaps, travel writing. Anyway, the only line that really stood out for me here was this: Laura's reading material: the highly controversial Jane Austen's Persuasion. Laura.... do not try and pretend you are intelligent and can read. Pfft. Trying to copy off me reading Madame Bovary on the Green Tortoise. joy!!! Miss ya xxx
soooooooooo jealous!! hey there!!

Enjoying your bloggs Hey you two, just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying the updates. Your stories make me chuckle out loud, not that anyone notices any more - they're used to my strange ways around here:-( The office isn't the same without you both, keep enjoying yourself you lucky, lucky pair.
Brings back memories. Well my lovelies. I had to laugh at your account of the travelling. Its just like that in Kyrgyzstan. And no help when things go wrong. Thank God for a trusty driver who happens to be a mechanic with superglue in his VERY SMALL tool kit.
So funny that the main silk road through K is no more than a very wide dirt track with large pot holes. Ah!! It all seems so long ago now.
Well today is our big day. 25 years of 'joy ride'. My darling Matt is the best. How much he's had to put up with. No wonder he's so grey.
Caths, Paul and Louis arrive tomorrow. Life seems quite emotional right now. I burst into tears at my work team meeting yesterday. Don't know what they thought, cos I couldn't see through the tears. It did me good though. The dam needed to break. "Better out than in" I say.
Any how enough of my ramblings. We send you our love. I know your going to have a blast every step of the way.
Love Rhi.XXXX
Good day everyone
It is fair to say that the passing of time merits a fresh introduction
We left old Blighty on 1 September 2009 and proceeded to make our way through Russia, China, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand, before eventually reaching New Zealand on 7 December 2009.
We have been working in Wellington ever since - today as this introduction is being written the date is the 23 April 2010. However, the time for moving on has again come; we will be flying into Melbourne on 2 June armed with working visas.
We’ve got 4 weeks of travelling around New Zealand before this relocation, a... full info
