WOW!! Again. I am enjoying your pictures and dialogue so much. Now I can save money and just live vicariously through you and Jay!! We are cruising around Hawaii in late May...not quite like being on your own. Enjoy and stay safe.
Reeeally Great! Great pics, as usual. I especially like the white sand! We are all envious back here. Looking forward to spending some time with you two and Kona soon. Speaking of Kona, I did not recognize him at first glance. He looks cool and relaxed! Now with our passports in hand, just let us know when and where and we are there!.......love, momjj
p.s. How about posting a pic of your friends?
what a treat Thanks for the great pics. It is wonderful to feel a presence of being with
you on your experience. Never a dull moment...
Best wishes,
Liz
Fair Winds and Happy Sailing! So, you're off to the Bahamas tonight. We'll be looking forward to the update from there. In the meantime: "You won't melt, you won't rust, so just get out there and sail."
Love you guys!
Mom
Wild Life Glad to see that you both are having fun and enjoying the trip! I saw Manatee's in the wild when I visited Grandma and Grandpa Johnson last December. They are fun to watch even though they are not as animated as some other animals.
Be Safe!!
Connections What a shot of Jay with the fish - I'm not sure I've ever seen you so relaxed and happy. You both seem to be in your true element on the water. Keep a lookout for a 34' Catamaran, Caesar's Ghost, skippered by Di Hunter, traveling with two other 76yr old widows, Sally Goodrich and Nancy Stimson. They may be in Ft Pierce waiting to make the crossing. My friend here in Ridgway, Penny Hanshaw, knows these ladies and has said you would really enjoy them. They might be seen around the harbor wearing T-shirts with their motto, "Life is short. Do it now." Sounds like you, eh??
Love ya',
Mom
I love hearing about your sailing adventure and seeing the pictures. I hope the weather cooperates soon. Jeane told me Travis and Heather had to postpone their trip and are moving. Sounds like a real neat, BIG, house. Stay safe and better luck fishing, Jay.
Is there a second prize? Thanks again, Jen, for a great posting. Your hours of time spent on it are greatly appreciated by us land folk. I'm reeeeally glad I read or hear about you guys' "learning processes/happenings" AFTER they happen like Jay's hurricane experience!
....love you, momj
How exciting that you've started you big adventure/dream! GLad you are working out all the kinks while you are still in the states! THanks for the updates and happy sailin'!!!!
How Exciting I had heard only bits and pieces about your adventure with the generator; glad you got that fixed and are on your way. Enjoyed talking to you yesterday. Love you
Great pics! And just the right amount of information. I know you said it was hard to decide what and what not to post. I think we will all have an idea as to how difficult the traveling was without wishing you back. The stops along the way look great so am glad you had a chance to enjoy yourselves. Provisioning was sounding like all work no play. I've been trying to figure out the weather for the crossing but need a course in map reading. Anyway, happy sailing. My love and prayers, dear ones. Mom (DNP)
First one wins a prize right? I am glad you guys are on your way and reporting once again. Loose connections are in the gazillions. Just imagine how many loose connections there really are in the world. Boggles the mind.
Sail Fast... Live Slow!! It has been great to see your adventure unfolding.. a trip of a lifetime... I am jealous!! Hopefully all of the adventures in Charleston (lines caught, power down, storms) has helped to prepare you for the journey ahead. Can't wait to hear the next update... Hopefully I can catch up with you somewhere in your journey!
Questions Looks like the questions I was going to ask were already asked! Hopefully they will be answered in the next entrie. As for Kona, while he is sitting by his food, I gather he is calculating how many days and hours of his food supply is left.
Love you a lot and am thinking of both of you every hour of each day!....Mom(Jean)
Brilliant or Stupid? Dearest Jay,
Brilliant, of course! Choosing to gain experience on someone else's boat with a skipper and crew of experience is a wonderful opportunity. May you have a safe and uneventful journey back to the Rum Runner with a readiness to hit the high seas and the easy island livin' (right?). We will all be eager to hear tales of the trip, next in line after Jen and Kona, of course. Jen, do hope you and salty dog have continued the provisioning process while Jay is at work ............. how much more can the boat hold and where in the world are you finding room?
Love you bunches!!!!!!
Mom
ooooops Pushed the wrong button on that last one and the comment got sent unfinished. Who is manning the blog? I suspect Jen is. Who has the camera, there again, I think Jen. Will we still be getting pics of Kona or did he go with Jay? I assume Kona is a little perplexed either way and is wondering where Jay is or where Jen is. He is probably sitting by his food just in case.
We are impressed...are you getting paid or just getting good experience. We are still enjoying Spain even though it is colder than we would like. Be safe and have fun! Gran and Margaret
Rum Runners of lore were some of the best sailors on the seas. They had to outrun, outwit, and outsail the navy in order to make their spoils. We are proud to follow in the traditions of the past Rum Runners; to sail in the same waters, to find protected anchorages and friendly ports, as well as to enjoy some of the best rums the Caribbean has to offer- yar!
Let me introduce you to the crew of the Rum Runner; I’m Jen and do most of the blogging. But my life wouldn’t be complete without my husband Jay by my side. And as always we have our trusty companion Kona, the Salty Dog. We have b... full info
