Road with Altitude
Bolivian highway
More Blog from Mike... Since my last email much has happened. Some good some bad, we left Andagala in drizzly conditions to traverse a mining road - they had had the most rain in 20years over the last few days so river crossings were expected to be a challenge, and they were. 10Kms out we encountered our first, I was first across no problem but 2 or 3 guys gave there bikes a bath. "Product endorsement" Dri rider waterproof boots and overtrousers ARE, even when standing in fast running water helping to pick up bikes. We continued up to a height [View Full Entry]

Well are we having a bloody adventure or what, it is 11.00 pm all the others have gone to bed and I can hardly keep my eyes open, so I hope this is'int to disjointed, you will have got an idea of what we have been through if you read Charlies comments. We have arrived in San Antonio de Los cobres, well most of us are here. Alec took a tumble yesterday, as far away from civilization as you can get. He was in quite a bit of pain as he brock his colar bone and cracked two rear ribs, now [View Full Entry]

All present and accounted for...
Ola, After a lively welcome dinner (muchos Pisco Sour, Vino Tinto & Cervaza) We finally got our bikes cleared Thursday afternoon and followed the truck with the container to a dusty yard where they were unloaded and we spent a couple of hours assembling them. We left there about 4pm for the 20 min trip back to Vina del Mar to collect the rest of our gear from the hotel. Unfornately due to unforseen teething problems (got lost & and a person who shall not be named ran out of petrol with no emergency condom for fuel transfer.....fortunately saved by another [View Full Entry]

All adventurers are now safe and sound at the Ankara hotel here in Vina del Mar, some handle the long flights better than others..... Than plan so far has come together, we are hoping to get access to our motos later today, but as I think the customs people are low on stamp ink, and may not have enough to complete the process on this working day !!! So it may be an early start in the morning instead, but we are ever optimistic that some miracal will happen. Everone is in a very relaxed mood (except me) but once I'm [View Full Entry]

Hello all, I had a very long journey yesterday and after a long sleep I feel much better. The A/C arrived 6 hours late in Santiago. I stayed 24 hours on the aircraft. Philip from Cargolux gave me great support through customs. Thank you very much Philip for all your help. It took the whole afternoon to get my motorbike through customs with a broker, and finally I left Santiago 6 O'clock in the evening. At 8 O'clock I finally reachd Vina del Mar very very tired. The whole gang was already waiting for me. I finished the evening with Rosco [View Full Entry]

Looking brand new !
Hi Guys, just a blog to wish you all safe travels to Santiago. Keith and Mike have gone already, and will fly down to Punta Arenas, then catch a boat up through the fiords of Southern Chile to Puerto Montt, then flying up to Santiago to meet at the airport for transfer to Vina del Mar. I go on Saturday, while Gerardo is driving our chase truck the 3,000km from Punta Arenas to Santiago for us, so there is no more time to do anymore planning, just cutting bloody grass up here in the Far North, it just won't stop growing [View Full Entry]

Rocky Bear has finally found himself a helmet, and is currently having his Passport validated, so he can now join our intrepid band of adventurers, he is one of those Bears, that sees all, hears all, but knows nothing at all !....He is keen to ride on the moto's and on the odd days, in the chase truck to keep an eye on Lance and Zane. The container of motos should have arrived in Valparaso as I am writing this blog. It is only 14 days before I fly out to Chile and begin the paperwork and stamping drama to clear [View Full Entry]

Here is a general profile of the adventurers, that will attempt to complete Rosco’s Rocky Road, High Andes Adventure for 2008. Gerardo Otzen: I met Gerardo back in 2002 when we were shipping emu chicks to Chile, being a MAF (SAG) Vetinario, (our Adventure Doctor!) he was sent to approve our farm, along with others that were sending chicks to Chile. As he had to come up from Auckland to the Far North, we invited him to stay over and go back the next day. Well, it turned at that he also had a moto and rode it around the Region [View Full Entry]
