today's been filled with cooking. since today is ryan's funeral, and i couldn't be down in texas for it, i decided to spend the afternoon doing something i enjoy (cooking) and working on an art project because ryan was all about art. we actually met in our art class in 7th grade. anyways, now that i've made pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, french silk pie, and baked chicken, and served taste testing plates to the roomies, i'm going to relax for a bit and pop in the shower. eric's coming around 9, and i think we're going to either watch a movie [View Full Entry]

I took the day off work, so I'm just hanging out in the apartment for today. I have big plans but little energy. First on the list was making breakfast. Luckily, the glory of southwestern food is being able to throw things together. So even though I need to get to the grocery store, I made some yummy eggs (see picture). Next was working on my environment and health research project- done, just need to print articles at the library. Then I worked on my econ project- done, just need to print and proof. After writing this, hopefully I'll go and [View Full Entry]

It's definitely reached that point in my day where I should be getting to sleep. Today I met with my faculty advisor, Professor Ewick, for the last time :( I'm trying to figure out my course schedule for the spring semester. I can't believe it's my last one at Clark! Ewick asked me what I was planning on doing after graduation, and I told her that I knew this was probably one of the few times in my life when I had to option to pick up and go anywhere- I mean, I can move wherever I want to find a [View Full Entry]

So I left my 9 AM class this morning about an hour and a half before it was supposed to be over. My professor has decided that the students will be teaching his course for the rest of the semester while he spends time on the computer. Fabulous learning environment! I had decided when we were assigned our first paper and he was totally lackadaisical about it, that I would wait to see if he was going to do the same thing with the midterm. Turns out, I didn't have to turn in my midterm essays today. I could turn them [View Full Entry]

So game 7 of the ALCS was not that great. After Pedroia's home run (and only point to the Red Sox for the whole game...), I thought there was a chance for another awesome comeback. The last couple of innings told a totally different story though. Lucky for Pedroia, I think I will now refrain from calling him "Rat Boy" (due to his rat like facial structure) and singing the Batman theme song whenever he comes up to bat. With three home runs in the ALCS series, Rat B... I mean, Pedroia, really carried his own weight. [View Full Entry]

Quick update before I get back to studying. This week- Monday was Columbus Day, so no school- yay! This morning I worked 9-11, and I have my spanish discussion at 5. The rest of the day is going to be fill with watching the 4th Red Sox game against Tampa Bay and studying mas espanol. Wednesday, I have my first spanish test. Other than that, midterms have started- Wednesday I have two essays due (only 3 to 5 pages each surprisingly) and next Thursday is my econ midterm. Not too much else going on this week. This past weekend, Kathy and [View Full Entry]

I had a great weekend, but it went by way too fast. This guy Nick from Maine that I met in the fall of sophomore year (not the Nick from Maine that studied abroad in Scotland) came down to visit for the weekend. I got tons of work done before he showed up Saturday but have just realized that I forgot about my spanish homework that's due tomorrow. And now I'm not really in the mood to do work. Anyways, Saturday Kathy and I watched the Red Sox game. We didn't do so hot against Toronto, but we won today's game. [View Full Entry]

Well, this semester marks the beginning of a new trend I guess... I'm actually enjoying my economics class. After struggling through all my past classes, this one is right up my alley. It's called International Economics, and so far we've read a book about the process of making a T-Shirt and how many countries the thing passes through before it's actually a finished product. Surprisingly, I'm doing really well in the class too- last week my professor explained to the class that my response to one of first assignments was excellent and then today, he spent a third of the class [View Full Entry]
