Hi Guys, I am now in Cambodia. Let me fill you in since I last blogged... we took a cool day trip from Ho Chi Ming City ( Saigon) 1975 the next day. we went to the Mekong Delta in the morning and the Cho Chi tunnels in the afternoon. This time I will let the pictures do the talking. The Mekong river is quite impressive at 4500 kms long and a fertile delta to accompany. All types of vegetables can be grown, even ones i haven't heard of.. Im not a fruit expert though! Most of the Cocunut production in Vietnam is here.we said our goodbyes to our group as it was time to join up with a new group of 12 for the Road to Angkor... Our first day was mostly a travel day ... read more
Hi Everyone, Im excited that I can add some photos to this blog i hope which I haven't been able to do for a while and the blog is back to the way it was (almost) before the big crash at the start of the month. Heather has decided to leave me and go back to Ireland for a couple of weeks.Dont worry we are not getting a divorce or anything!! I think her time on the transiberian with dodgy food and awful sanitary conditions has put her off any more travelling in developing countries for a while... We have got through a very enjoyable 7 weeks together. Despite some misgivings ,i have decided to continue and finish our itinerary and meet up with her in London or maybe Ireland. So we press on, we said ... read more
Hi, I know i have been a bold boy... ie haven't posted for a while... Myself and Heather did a chaffeur driven tour of Xian in a black Buick. We went to the City wall which is impressively intact. It is 14 kilometers long and about 3 times broader than the Great wall which was about 20 foot wide .. it varies... luckily we didnt spent too long at the local Museum... They are constantly discovering relics as they incessantly develop the country. We saw the little Terracotta warriors who are about 18 inches from a different dynasty... Went to a very colourful show in the evening.... Beijing Olympics opening ceremony is I predict going to be a visual and questionnably audible spectacular based on what took some r&r by the pool and were disgusted by ... read more
Well hello, I guess you were wondering where we disappeared to. Well our travelsite crashed for a few days and we have lost most of our entries which is a real bummer... so I've decided to send a relatively quick update... The border crossing from Russia to Mongolia was particularly rough. 8 hours of bureaucracy on both sides of the border with the Russians been particularly. We had close to 40 degree heat in our cabins, not been allowed to get off the train or go to toilet.. enough said not a hightlight... We arrived in Ulaanbateur , the capital of Mongolia early morning about a week ago... its a bit of a dump frankly speaking. We went on a city tour and saw a cool buddist temple where the monks were actively chanting, watched by ... read more
Hi Guys, We have out of touch for the most part over ther last week because we have been primarily on the trans sib. I do realise that you do need to update blogs quite often as you often forget! - especially the predominant emotions of the time and we have had a few varying ones!! Since we have last relayed, we have taking an afternoon visit to the Kremlin last Saturday week. i have taken loads of photos -some good so if any of you guys want to see them when we get back.. The literal meaning of a Kremlin is fortress and to be honest it doesn't seem like that inside, we saw administrative buildings, lots of churches and open spaces. Not all places of course are open to the public. We saw the ... read more

July 16th 5pm... We finally arrive in Russia.... we had a bit of a hiccup in Warsaw.... the airport had to be evacuated due to a suspicious package for 3 hours! we even had an explosion to round off events. Just a precaution in the end.. The weather has really seared up in the last few days. We have been hitting 30 degrees in the last few days. A nice change from the wet scandinavian weather We decided to take a local bus and the metro to our meeting point for our next tour.... a few more hiccups... we dont have a word of Russian and the place to be honest in not very tourist friendly.. We meet our group albeit belatedly and had a nice meal. They are a nice mix of young people this ... read more
Good day, Forgive me father for I have sinned... its been over a week since my last blog.. I thought we might see something before we report back to you, the trouble is now is that we have been so busy sprinting around europe that I might have forgotten what I was going to say...let me try to recall... or just check Heathers daily journal.... We made our way to Tallinn Estonia via hovercraft from Helsinki. short journey about a hour and a half and the fastest option they were a few... we quickly made our way (walking to the main square) no bother.... the old town is small and quite navigable in a day or so... well that what we had... Prices were much cheaper than Scandinavia. We decided to take a small walking tour ... read more
Hei ..... (this is the Finnish word for hi,, believe me this is the simplest word in this unusual language) We have been hanging out in this cool city since we last posted. I should this outside in the (tends to be brief) suns viewing the things Im meant to be writing about ...so full steam !! i have a large pastry to eat in 20 minutes... We made our way over to Helsinki on a overnight ferry to Helsinki from Stockholm.. I wasnt expecting mĂșch as I remember taking a few trips on Irish Ferries to France as a teenager and you would always have to have your doggie bag on hand and this overnighters really felt you were in a coffin ship... However we were pleasantly surprised by teh Silja Sympjhony.. You walked ... read more
