Just catching up! Okay, it's 9:24 in the morning and your mother is drinking her coffee and catching up on your travels as you are fast asleep in the basement after a night out at the bars! I heard all of you come in last night at 2:09 am! Was it Janeen that suggested you quit your day jobs and become Travel Writers? Give it some thought. This blog is so entertaining and you are both great writers! A lifetime of travelling....hmmmmmmm. Hope your spirits stay high as you get further into your trip. As we've been discussing, this all brings back fond memories for me as I did something similar back in the early 70's! I love you! mom
Relaxation So now I have my new thing I do every night-I read your blog before tucking in. It's so cool...you guys are seeing some awesome places, sights, smells etc. Keep having fun and talk to you soon.
Hi Ellie!!! Ellie, it was so much fun to hear from you! I miss you and will definitely give you a call during the month. Write me anytime!!! I want to hear about your summer too. Love, Jen
Alamosa - Great Sand Dunes If you get a chance climb the Dunes outside of Alamosa on your way to Denver....the biggest sand dunes EVER! If you have a boogie board you'll beable to surf down.
As Junie B. would say... Wowie wow wow - hot springs! This roadtrip is sounding almost spa-like, minus that pesky tent!(Did I mention that I have to teach first grade next year -I want to cry- which explains why I am reading Junie B. Jones. I have decided measurement is a skill they can master in grade one, so maybe I can teach them to mix cocktails.) So what is up with the scientific elements? I am thinking that Rob might teach science? I must have been busy doing something else in all my science classes because those letters representing the elements looked just like letters to me. Your pictures are so great! I have a recommendation for some inexpensive but fantastic pizza once you get to Chicago - Chicago Pzza and Oven Grinder at 2121 N. Clark Street in Lincoln Park. You have to get the Mediterranean bread and the salad. The pizza is a pot pie. Best of all, this place is a bargain and is was recognized for its uniqueness on Food Network. Here is the catch - the host, an old Grek guy, does not take names; he remembers your face. The first time I was skeptical, but several glasses of wine later he did seat us. It is one of my absolute favorite places in Chi-town! Looking forward to hearing about you next adventure...
wow! sounds like you two are enjoying quite an adventure! you are IN YOUR ELEMENT! Jen, I always thought you would make a great Travel Guide, it's never too late you know! I just don't know how you guys have time to blog between all the activities and drinking--but I am happy you are making the time, this is very entertaining! keep it up, I can't wait to hear more--good tease about making money...now TELL us already!!! : )
AWESOME Jenny: How cool!!! I asked my mom why I haven't seen you in a while..... well, now I know why!! I bet your having tons of fun!! Ooh, what was the moneymaking job? It's a mystery!!!!! Can't wait to see MORE!!! <3 <3
Rob: Sweet!!!!!!!! I bet your having LOADS of fun, can't wait till you blog next!!!!
Auntie Jill has tuned in! Wow, this is so cool! I get to travel with you guys! Your pictures are amazing! How long does it take you to find a big rock at the right height to set the camera on a timer to get those great shots? That and the writing must be keeping you very busy! The suspense is killing me about what job you did at 8:30 in the morning. I want to take some guesses: chicken plucking? Build a burger activities at the $4 joint? Slicing Fries? Dishwasher? Cow pile cleaner upper? Horse tender? Park Ranger Assistant? I can't wait to know!! Give me a hint. Did you get minimum wage? Gas pump attendant? Okay, I give up. Here's some random comments.
Your "random" photo looked like "Close Encounters of the Third Kind (the movie!). For a minute I wondered how standing on two hands puts you in four states (I get it, I get it). I guess it would have been too common to do the "Twister Game" pose. Speaking of poses, very good Rob! Two thumbs up! "America is giving you another chance to become a Super Model" (anyone out there get that one? Tee Hee...Heidi Klum gets it). Those waterfalls look very refreshing. If the budget gets any tighter, you can hydrate there, and save beer money (NOT). Your writing is so enjoyable, you can abandon your day jobs and go into reality tv! Call it "Jen and Rob in Route." I'm staying tuned.....Love you, Jill
Cool Trip Well I am jealous Rob. Great trip idea, Perfect time in your life. I will be reading in envy. Last summer we were on 89 by where you slept when we went to the Grand Canyon, We drove up through Page. Enjoy.

Keep them coming and I'm dying to know what job you did to earn a little cash. Hope it was legal. J/K. Miss you already!
FUN! So you guys are really doing it! It sounds like you are having a great time and I especially enjoy Rob's metaphor's!! I cannot believe that you are out there traveling around, while I am stuck in hot Arizona in a classroom. I really hope that you have the best time and admire your adventurous spirits. I love the picture and am planning on living vicariously through you, so keep them coming. If you go through Nebraska I can arrange a free meal, accommodations, and work if needed. Let me know... Talk to you soon...
WOW I"m so jealous I have wonderful memories of that area of the world and I loved the drive.......Crazy, I know....I am so happy you are sharing your adventures........have to live vicariously(hey teachers, how do you spell that word? ) thru you two. Give the Denver family a big howdodo from the Crossman clan, and keep on writing......what was the money maker??????
Cleanliness Glad to hear you are showering. I feel much better now. I will celebrate with a glass of sangria.
P.S. Your pictures are amazing.
P.P.S. (or is is P.S.S. - whatever) I bet I will be your top blog responder by the time your trip is over.
It's great to hear from you!! OK-hopefully I did this right...despite working for a high tech market research firm for 7 years, I have never blogged, don't know how...am actually quite lost. Glad to hear you guys are not lost! This blog is such a great idea!! What better way to document your adventures and keep us all posted. I know you will have a blast. You'll probably be ready to rip eachothers hair out at some point....driving for that long. I'd just rip out my own hair out :) But I know it will be great to see family and explore the country together. We miss you and will be thinking of you. Be safe!
Love ya!!
Erin
You two are hilarious!! Oh Jen, As I was reading I was thinking to myself...Wow, so much talk about the budget, but they seem to be getting lots of drinking in! Then I read the part about "no budget for hydration"...oh how you make me laugh! I can't wait to see you here and again in Chicago, maybe we can go out while we are there!
School is out, the price of gas is soaring, and it may be a long time before we get a chance to do it again...we're roadtripping. 60 days on the road - the entire month of June and July; the plan from Phoenix takes us north and east from Telluride to St. Louis, Chicago to Ann Arbor, Toronto to Vancouver, and Seattle down to L.A, with many stops along the way. We're blogging to keep our friends and family up-to-date with our daily experiences and travels. Enjoy!... full info
