South America » Peru » Lima April 13th 2013

Hi! I apologise for appalling grammar in previous blog entry. I wrote it quickly and foolishly didn't re-read! Anyway, so we have been by ourselves without our g adventures group now for almost a week! Lima hasn't a great deal to offer but it has a well groomed park in the centre of town which is lovely in the sunshine. It had lots of little sweet and market stalls scattered in and amongst the park which add to it's bright atmosphere! apart from enjoying the park we went surfing a couple of days ago! We are now officially surfer babes!!!!! Or so we would like to think...... ? I dI'd however 'ride' a wave-check me out!! And rach nearlyyyyyyy got up, so not quite surfer gal material just yet Hahah ;) although the water was freezing ... read more

So my mum told me our last blog entry was rubbish, which reading back on it, it was ha! Ok, the AMAZON When we arrived we went on a night walk for about an hour and saw some HUGE spiders, including a teranchula and a poisonous frog, which aparantly when u lick it's back (not sure why u ever would u DIE--spooky stuff huh?!) I'm sitting here with rach now and we have just had our dinner of chicken, fish an salad from the supermarket... (we were trying to save money by not eating out and then it actually amounted to the same price if not more money-but hey ya live and ya learn!) We are going to head out now to a bar I think or maybe just stay in... Tomorrow we are going to go to the beach like we did today the maybe have a surfing lesson!! South America » Peru » Cusco » Lares Trek April 2nd 2013

So we finished trekking yesterday! It was hard as at one point we were 4,600 metres above sea level and hiking up a steep mountain!! That was very challenging but when we reached the top our tour guide for the trek brought out his 'surprise' which was a bottle of whiskey Haha!! So we all took a well deserved sip. At night we camped but the porters put the tents up for us so we didn't have to do that bit. We also had dinner every night by the chef who prepared such deliscious meals with SUCH a simple kitchen. I was in utter shock when I saw his cooking equipment as the food was so good!!! On Rachel's bday he even cooked her a cake! It Was a great experience.... read more

South America » Peru » Cusco March 27th 2013

Franks and I have just finished our first meal of alpaca - definitely beats yesterday's diet of potato soup followed by potato and rice! Yesterday we did a home stay with a Peruvian family, 6 kids, 25 sheep, pigs, cows and a donkey! We challenged the locals to a football match (Frankie was in her element) and dressed up in local costumes..probably the funniest experience of our lives (see pics!) Finally arrived in cusco after 8 hours on a bus. Guinea pig for dinner tonight and tomorrow morning we leave to start our macchu pichu adventure...... read more
