Happy super late holidays to everyone! Its been a while since Ive written on here. =S First Id like to appoligize about my horrible english skills...theyre continuously getting worse, but I think thats okay because my spanish is improving so much. =) First of all, Id like to comment on my christmas here =). my first xmas without snow! It was most definately different. haha. We ate all cold foods, like ham, lots of salads and lemon pie. We drank champange and opened presents. It was a different feeling, not having snow, and I guess you could say that its not as commercial here; no xmas music, santa claus isnt that big of a deal, no xmas lights and few decorations. How to start? hm...well first of all school has been going well. im understanding a lot more =) unfortunately my classmates think the only words i need to know are the bad ones...so ive been taught quite a bit of those =P anyways, school is a lot different here! first of all we dont change classrooms. the teachers do. we dont get to pick our classes, its a lot more chill, if a teacher doesnt go to class we can go home (this happens more often than youd think), and my school consists of about 120 people. oh and its a catholic school. =) but things have been going pretty smooth here. they all talk about culture shock and the down times...but honestly i didnt experience culture shock and ive had very few down times. =) ... read more

so ive been in my new house for a week now. in argentina for almost two. im starting to understand the language better! which probably is mildly essential seeing as i will be spending a year here. some random differences ive noticed here: you must wear some kind of shoes in the house all of the time. they drink a type of herbal tea called mate (say MAHH TAYY not mate) all of the time! i love it =). OH they do not slow down while turning when they are driving here! haha. i must admit it has scared me a bit. they have supurb meat!! um, there are no llamas where i live. theyre all up north. =(. they dont eat much for breakfast, basically drink coffee or tea. they eat lunch at about 2. ... read more

wow it seems not so long ago i was just deciding to go on this adventure and wow im already here! well it is super amazing here! we had an orientation first...it was really long. haha. the flight was good. 3 hours to miami, 9 hours to buenos aires. then 13 hours by bus to mendoza. but the busses are awesome here. haha. well im now in my host family. they are soo amazing. super loving and hospitable. its been wonderful so far. i can see the mountains from here, and they are so beautiful. and you know how they say that argentina has the best meat in the world?? well they do. haha its incredible. i have 2 sisters, a mom, dad, and three dogs. 2 boxers (frida & lola) and a random mutt (mateo). ... read more

From the time i decided to leave until the month before i left i was pretty much nothing but excited to leave. Then, about a month and a half before i left i was super sad and didnt want to go. I was too worried about missing people at home and just had my mind completely focused on my little town of Rice Lake, WI. But after about 2 weeks i realized that thats not going to be my home anymore and Ill be living in somewhere else.
