Hello everyone!! Sorry it has taken me so long to update, but I had a lot to write and I've been keeping busy around England. However, now I have to write about my favorite trip so far...Ireland! I was absolutely amazed at how serene, peaceful and natural everything in Ireland was, completely different than England or the US. We drove for miles and miles and saw nothing but hills, rivers, and sheep. I do not think the pictures I will put on here even do it justice, it is really something that should be experienced for itself, but hopefully I will [View Full Entry]

I am back from yet another weekend traveling adventure! It's definitely convenient to go to a different country every weekend since Europe is so close together. I have a feeling it would be even easier if I was on mainland Europe. Since the innovation of the chunnel, getting off the island of England and into other parts of Europe has gotten easier. As you know two weeks ago we took the underwater train to Paris and last weekend we took it to another Eurostar destination - Brussels, Belgium. While I was in Paris, my friends decided they wanted to go to [View Full Entry]

I have recently returned from a great weekend with Aunt Pat exploring London and Paris. Last Wednesday, she arrived in London where I met her after my class for a stroll around London and a delicious dinner at Taman Gang, a great restaurant near Marble Arch. Taman Gang is an Asian restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere. It was so nice to have some food I didn't have to cook in my flat! We ate dumplings, tempura vegetables and soft shell crab, and fried rice and noodles - all very delicious! After dinner, I headed back to Egham and on Thursday Aunt [View Full Entry]

Well I have been such a busy bee here making the time fly by so much faster! I like to try to keep on top of my blogs because I have so much to share and don't want to forget any of it! This weekend was great and all of it was spent in England. Friday we went to Oxford and Saturday and Sunday were both spent in London. I was just thinking the other day, that if I were to leave now, I would feel homesick for London. I'm beginning to feel like I fit in so well here, and [View Full Entry]

Well I have survived two weeks of classes at Royal Holloway! I really can't believe how quickly the time is flying by. The semester is only 10 weeks long and we're already onto week 3! I'm enjoying my classes here a lot but I'm finding the teaching style very different. Students are required to be very independent in their studies and there is not much assigned coursework. In fact, most of our grade rides on one final paper or examination at the end of the term. The professors give suggested reading, but it is up to us how much and what [View Full Entry]

Hi everyone! Last weekend, my friends and I took our first travel adventure and went to Edinburgh, Scotland. My friend Becca, who goes to Muhlenberg and is also studying at Royal Holloway, has a friend from Muhlenberg who is doing her semester abroad in Edinburgh. It was great because we had our own personal tour guide who knew the ins and outs of the city. On Friday afternoon, we took the train from Egham to London Waterloo. From here, we had to take the underground (which I'm slowly getting used to!) to Euston Station. We took a train from London to [View Full Entry]

On Saturday my RHUL friends and I took our first trip into London! It's pretty convienent to get into the city from our school, but the campus itself is out in the countryside although it's associated with the University of London. The train station is about a mile away from the college so it's a pretty easy walk or there's a shuttle that goes there. We left bright and early Saturday morning to walk to the train station and get a train before 9 AM. (It wasn't exactly bright and sunny...you never know what the weather will do here!) The train [View Full Entry]

The most interesting part of being here so far is the international culture I've been experiencing. My flat has 7 people so far, and there are only 2 Americans. The rest are from various parts of Asia - Hong Kong, China, South Korea, and India. They are all 3 year students here (the equivalent of our 4 years) so they are also accustomed to British culture. The campus is also much more diverse than I'm used to. There are people from all over the world who study here. Just interacting with people from different backgrounds is an education in itself. Here in the UK!

Well here I am in England! After months of anticipation I've finally arrived. My flight left Newark airport at 9:15 PM. I was a little apprehensive before getting on the plane, but then I met another girl from Muhlenberg. She is going to Goldsmiths in London. She also told me that her friend Sarah, who is here at Royal Holloway, was supposed to fly on a Virgin Atlantic flight from JFK but it got cancelled at the last minute so she was flying from Newark. Sarah and I were hoping to meet up at the airport but since her flight got [View Full Entry]
