sun coming soon!
Another reason to be happy: your not sat in ikea in Southampton waiting for a broken kitchen unit to be replaced! Having just realised you forgot to bring everything with and will therefore be having to make another round trip later in the week! Aaaarrrrggghhhh!

Rosie, from what I hear about 50 shades of Grey, you'll be needing cold shower(s)! Val x

sun coming soon!
Just heard on the radio and the sun should be here by Friday! Wooohooo. So no need to come back and take your house back from us just yet :)

Stuck in Bray
Hi Both You must be the unluckiest pair alive - just remind me never to go on holiday at the same time as you!! I'm still jealous though because I am sitting at my desk doing boring old work (in a warm, dry office!!). When you said there are boats for sale and you are going shopping in the same sentence, does that mean you are buying a new boat?? One with hot running water, a double shower and under floor central heating?! Saw Lis Allan yesterday and she told me Helen is pregnant again - if it is correct then that is something really good to be looking forward to. Congratulations. And think how much you will love your house when you get back to it!! Onward and upward!!!! Love C xx

You missed one
Hi Rosie & H, Following your trip on the map. It looks as if you missed out the Happy Hermit pub (you seem to have called in to all the others we can find). Sounds as if you are almost as wet on the outside as inside. Keep your spirits up - only several weeks to go!!

Where to go
Cookham try Maliks and Henley the du vin... Xx

Proud of you Rosie
So you haven't baled out yet. If only you were a little closer we would certainly visit. Tell Captain H to change tack and head North.

Date to meet
Dear Rosie and Howard, Hope our emails are getting through. Mick and I would be happy to meet up in fact we are thinking weather permitting of going for a bike ride on the Thame bike trail next week. Is that anywhere near where you are going? Do let us know if you would like to meet for a drink, Wednesday onwards. Glad you are keeping going. Love from us both Sarah and Mick

dropping in
Unable to join you this weekend as going to stay by the sea, we like our water to be supersized! xx

Your decision is?
Hi Captain and first mate, trouble with blogging getting to Cold Ash, must be the weather! Finally caught up with all blogs since 6th on Wednesday. Replied with useful suggestions regarding your choices, but that doesn't seem to have reached you either-strange. Sun out here for 5 mins before the rain returns. Nightly slug/snail hunt producing huge amounts of the little buggers. John even bought me a head lamp to make the job easier. Mmmmm perhaps you should return quickly before I completely loose the plot! Love from us xx

Dilemna!
Hi Really enjoy reading your blogs. Whatever you decide you have my total admiration, I'd have given in ages ago but you're clearly made of sterner stuff! If you quit now how will you feel! The weather can only get better and you have some really lovely places to visit. There is always a pub near by and good food to enjoy. If you go home who's going to be doing all the cooking? You decide!! Love to you both x

Mutiny
Sounds to us as if you are planning a mutiny - Howard will have you keelhauled if he finds out. Show some backbone and tough it out, it can't get any worse (or can it?).

Weatherwise - You could not have had worse luck!!!
What a shame, it has been relentless! Last year we booked two weeks in beautiful Ireland, the first two weeks of the hols. It rained most days.........a lot, was cold and windy and the children got into the sea but only by wearing wetsuits! I spent the last week of that holiday dreaming of the sun and we came home and booked a week in the sun at the end of the school hols. This year we are going to the sun, there is only so much rain a person can take, come home and go directly off somewhere warm! You could always try again in September, we generally get a bit better weather then???
11th July 2012

Shall we or shan't we??
Keep going - what else are you going to do if you come home? It's too wet to do the gardening!! cx
11th July 2012

Stay or go!?!
As much as we would love you home, I think you'll regret it... Weather is going to be unpredictable, which is such a disappointment & a mental struggle each day BUT what is there to come back for ?? I know it's easy for me to say all the above, I'm not in your wellies.... Only come home if you are both really unhappy because listening to Jo's poxy 7 or 8 puppies and 3 dogs barking in this god awful weather is no fun either :-( We've got a rowdy bunch coming over this weekend too!! How are Helen & Ben getting on? Love to you both from all at No.2 xxxx

Hermitage hello
What was that big party going on at your house last night? Ha ha only joking. There are rumours in the village that The Fox may be closing soon - see what happens when you go away for a while! Glad to hear you are half way, are you ahead of schedule or is it just a case of wherever, whenever? Have a lovely evening and hope Captain H has clean socks for your big night out. We saw the Olympic torch today, was a great sight and the rain held off until it had gone thankfully. Keep those ropes tight x
11th July 2012

Tipping it down in Hermitage today, although it did stay dry for most of the torch relay this morning. I can't believe you're in Teddington, feels like you've been gone for months already! Hope the inclement weather is not putting too much of a 'dampener' on things, sounds like you are still having fun, amazing the resorative power of a good bottle of red or two! I must have missed the aciton blog about you running into the tug!
10th July 2012

rain, what rain?? should have been in Wiltshire!
10th July 2012

Half way
Glad you re half way! Would duck tape hold the hole? Hoping those ropes do hold, and you remain this side of North Sea!

Just wondered...
...have you started gathering the animals in two-by-two yet?
7th July 2012

Hello intrepid Thames people
Morning, another day of torrential rain in Cold Ash so we're escaping to Deal to stay with some friends. Means the slugs and snails can party after dark in the garden! Love reading the blog xx

Romance is not dead!
How romantic - such a lovely "walk" down memory lane, although a shame that Piccolo Mondo has turned into Kong's Chinese (is that King Kong?). Hope H's socks dried, cos I think he'll be needing them today. What a washout - again - still got to better than what I'm doing. We WILL come and visit before we leave for France. x
