We left Denver February 9th and it is now June 13th. Wow! Four months on the road. I decided to blog a few days ago about how we are doing instead of what we are doing. Some of you have asked, some may be silently curious and some may not find this interesting at all. To the latter, please tune in next time to read of our shenanigans throughout Ireland and the U.K. I will leave you with a teaser-we drink a lot of Guinness. I just want to preface this blog by saying that in no way am I complaining about or unhappy with this journey. We both know how lucky we are to be able to travel for a year. We've definitely seen changes in our personalities and are thankful for them. We are ... read more

Amsterdam! It's not what you think. OK it is a little bit. OK a lot, sorry. Amsterdamis a wonderful place, and I can neither condone nor condemn the activities of anyone who sets foot in this great city. We were there for a little under a week. At first, we stayed in a brand new hostel in the south of the city called the Generator. This is another chain hostel that was almost more hotel than hostel. No kitchen, which is automatically a strike against them as far as we are concerned, but it made up for it in the quality of the beds and the jovial atmosphere. The hostel was an old converted university building, complete with a lecture amphitheater and a "library" that had about ten books. It was quiet like a library, though, ... read more

Hostels vs Hotels: Many friends have asked, what is a hostel like? Do you like staying in them? Well, sometimes. It's a great way to meet other travelers and the reception is way more helpful than at hotels. In fact, most hostel's employees are travelers that decided to stay for a while in one spot, work, and get a free bed. So they know what is good, what is inexpensive and where the best beverages are to be had. For the most part, I think hostels get a bad rap. They aren't full of spring breakers and bachelor parties. In fact, I hardly see any of those types in hostels. Most hostels welcome all ages. I have stayed with people in their 60s and 20s. Most guests are backpackers but there are many families and business ... read more

Welcome back, dear reader. This entry and the one immediately following it is this week's DOUBLE FEATURE! Blog written by me, Jordo, and a special edition entry where Rindi compares Hotels to Hostels and the pros and cons of both! I think! I haven't read it yet! We are by no means an authority, as of yet, but we have stayed in our fare share of hostels by now. I'll let her get to the nuts and bolts of that, later. Also, a tip for opening links to the pictures below (so that you don't lose your place), either right click on the link and "Open in New Tab" or use your middle mouse button to click on the link and it will open in a new tab automatically! You're welcome. Budapest, Hungary We left Croatia ... read more

Rindarama in da house! It's my turn to contribute to the blog. Sort of kid friendly. Just a few fucks sprinkled in. Croatia After spending too much time and money in Rome, we were more than ready to set sail to Croatia. We realized as we went over our expenses that we were going over budget ($50/day/each), mostly out of necessity but partly out of laziness. Time to tighten the belt. Croatia was the perfect place to regroup and slow down. We started to look into AirBnBs. Up until now, we had been using booking.com and hostelworld.com apps exclusively. We used booking.com so much that our account had been upgraded to Genius level meaning 10% off all bookings and free early/late checkin/out. Beautiful! Most rentals in this country are studio or one bedroom apartments, pretty cheap ... read more

Since the last time First off, apologies for the time span since the last update. Internet connectivity has been surprisingly shitty in places ranging from Barcelona to Rome. It's partially Windows 8 being stupid. I won't bore you with the technical details or why I haven't changed my OS yet but suffice it to say that it's all Bill Gates' fault. Gimme money, Billy. Surprisingly, Croatia/Montenegro connectivity has been very good so far. Even on this small island of Hvar, my throughput is pretty damn good. More on Croatia/Montenegro later. Second, you'll notice that rather than fucking around with trying to artfully insert pictures into the following text in any strategic or meaningful way, I have just provided hyperlinks to my google drive that contain folders with all the pictures we have taken so far. I ... read more

Southern Iberian Peninsula Part 1 Prepare yourselves, this shit is long. Also, if these pictures don't post correctly, I'll use this site to upload them. Trying to link to my google drive account to get the placement of the pictures to flow better. We meant to leave Lisbon southbound on the 10:50am train to Faro, Portugal, and then take the 6:00pm bus to Seville, Spain. It turns out Chegadas (arrivals) does not mean Partidas(departures). We looked at the wrong monitor, stood on platform five (the train arriving from Faro) and watched our train to Faro (platform seven) roll out of the station. Whoops. Four hours and €8 to change the tickets later, we left for Faro. Consequently we missed the bus to Seville so we decided to stay in a Hostel in Faro. Its funny how ... read more

Disclaimer! We've decided to mark these as SFC (Safe for Children) or NSFC (Not Safe for Children) by request. My entries will be mostly NSFC. Rindi's, not so much. So if for some reason you decide to read these out-loud to some minors, be forewarned. Olá! It's been a bit since the Super bowl. Apologies to the four people reading this for no news between then and now. Been kinda crazy. Bunch o shit's happened so far. I'll break it down: New York I don't know if that picture posted right. I'm still figuring this site out. It's not very intuitive. I know, I know, I'm a computer nerd -- figure it out, you say. Give me time, ass-hole! I'm tired. New York was rad. We were only there for two days. Stayed in a hostel ... read more

First post lul Today is superbowl sunday. I'm not capitalizing any of that cause this aint no holiday. It'll probably be fun, though. A couple of friends of ours, Jason (Bacon) & Michelle (McGrab) have been kind enough to let us stay at their sweet sweet house since the 1st when we moved out of our apartment. Its been pretty great. Wine and cheese. Video games. Excellence. I'll be dissapointed to leave their company, but I'm pretty excited to kick this shit off. Rindi and I are travelling around the world for a year, in case you didn't know. We leave on the 21st for the Azores (Portuguese islands basically in the middle of the Atlantic). Then four months around Europe. We'll get to that later. Anywayz, enough for now. We have a friggin sportsball game ... read more
