Spectacular! Thank you for sharing your travels…through your words and photos I see the majesty of the landscapes, the people, customs, and brilliance in the night skies…safe journey home to NYC where you are right, the stars are overwhelmed by man's invented light…unspectacular compared to the heavens above at night! xo Susan
thanks! Hey Pat, thanks for these great posts on Namibia, most useful for me as i'm about to visit it at the end of the month. But apart from that i just enjoyed reading your accounts. look forward to more when you travel again!

Herrera Fascinating to meet Herrera people. The same ethnic group, I presume, as the Herero, who the Germans colonialists subjected to a policy of extermination when they 'settled' Namibia? Makes me wonder about the origins of the village name 'Sorry Sorry'.
Herrera Yes Phyllis I couldn't get to the bottom of just why the name Sorry Sorry but I suspect you are right. Just below the surface of all their modern day local culture are horror stories of one type or another. The local people as a whole were brutally treated.
sneakers i have new respect for your gray sneakers that rested on my kitchen floor for a week. i cant believe that i worried about your trip from the canal to manomet. i will b sure to mention north or south from now on
Happy Zambians As a Zambian, I agree that Zambia has a lot of problems. However, a shortage of poor but happy people is not one of them. I used to work with some Europeans in Zambia years ago and they were always amazed that we, the locals, were always happy whether we had money or not. I did not understand this because to us being happy had nothing to do with money. Our basis for happiness was: 1) Are we and our loved ones healthy? 2) Do we have enough food for today? 3) Are we safe? 4) Do we still believe that God cares for us? If the answer to these questions was yes, then life was good.
I love and miss Zambia.
Zambian Lady Thank you so much for reading my blog and taking the time to list the criteria for happiness that adds more depth to my understanding of your people. Hopefully I will be there again someday....I can imagine how much you must miss your wonderful home.
Beautiful Photos Hi Pat, sooooo cool to hear back from you from half way around the world. The photos are beautiful.
