Just one word Scary.
we were learning in school about Mummies in Egypt that they took the brains out by sticking a hook up their nose

Market You were right .The comments were cheesy but I'm ashamed to admit made me laugh !Glad to see there's no chance of you becoming a carnivore.Love from a vegetarian
Thanks for the comments on the photos, we just hope they did the country justice.
As for a smiles...we have many many wonderful memories of friendly Colombian smiles. It´s just that sometimes people feel uncomfortable when there is a tourist with a camera in their face so we don´t take photos in those circumstances. But we will never forget the Colombianos.
From Jess and James
Barichara Barichara sounds wonderful. The photos are great.I would love to visit in Holy Week one day.I've never seen The Passion of Christ as I'm sure it would upset me but if it sent James to sleep twice perhaps I should watch it !Miss you both, looking forward to meeting up in Rio.
Loved the bus.... you really do paint a very vivid picture and transport us to your world of travel. The buses remind me of those found in Goa that travel to Mapusa market- no such thing as Health and Safety there.
I have a mental picture of Jess tumbling off the bus like one of this Tom and Gerry cartoons where ther is just an image of a body smashing through the screen and shrieking -not that Jess would ever do such a thing!
I am also old enough to remeber bus conductor/resses or 'clippies' as they were known on the good old PMT -Stoke-on -Trent buses- affectionately known as 'Potteries Muck Trucks' - think chicken buses minus the chickens. As for the boy and his P**- let me tell you that at my age a 'Jiffy'bag is a necessity on long journeys- and you can put whatever construct on that that you like!! Carry on posting- its a delight and an education...if I were 20 years younger..........
Chicken buses Great read. Sounds similar to the Mammy Wagons in Nigeria and buses in Barbados but Central America buses certainly are far more adorned . A tip I picked up from a book-sit in the midddle of the bus, never the front.Middle is the safest place in case of an accident.
hi.... have just caught up with you guys again. C and I are back in Skiathos after a very intense winter. Thanks for the pix of your darling sisters....you are both looking very well and obviously enjoying the 'canal' as we travellers call it.....keep well and happy!
Guiness Any chance there was a pint of Guinness near the Toucan. I
think ye would deserve that after risking your lives saving a shark no matter how small he/she was.
The 2 bananas in one a real recession buster for back home -- since its deals all round to get people to spend money. 2 for the price of 1 no extra packaging.
Take Care
Ellen
Peak District Training Hi,I couldn't stop laughing after reading this fantastic blog -great description and pictures. Not just the photos of trendy waterproofs but the lack of appreciation of my efforts training you for the supertramp tour when you were a teenager.See ,parents really do know best .We told you it would be worth the walks!!Sadly,Serena and Ciara totally agree with your description of Peak District walks!Love to both of you.Keep the fantastic blogs coming.
animals ye are so lucky getting to see all the beautiful animals even the snakes.Beach was so lovely from afar but I couldn't
beleive how dirty it was in the picture. I loved the green and blue lizard.
sorry you didn't find any treasure . miss you lots and lots. Rachel
Oh my God... .......not jealous at all. It looks so awesome - especially the hot lava. Hope your bum gets better soon!
Also, belated Happy Birthday Jessica - hope you and James have a great year and continue to max out on your trip of a lifetime. Remember the little people back here in Blighty....xxxxxxxx
Setting off with one way tickets to Mexico via Cuba (a two-month detour), we set ourselves the challenge of travelling through Central and South America down to the southern tip of Argentina by bus/train/boat.
We wrote and photographed all our adventures, discoveries and passions - food and football, people and pictures, wildlife and walking, books and buildings, mountains and music. We promise you won't read a boring day-to-day diary, just interesting tales from the road.
Plus for our friends with itchy feet, real backpacking tips direct from the backpack.
Hasta luego!
