IF YOU WISH UPON A STAR Makes no difference where you are ,if you wish upon a star ,youre dreams will come true. That was the theme tune of a programme on radio that i listened to in Ireland when I was a little girl,so its very ,very old.Glad you are still well and happy.Nine years is a long time to be in a relationship, congratulations.Ive been in one for 37 years so its commiserations.Continue to be happy and enjoy every minute.love from THE MATRIARCHXXXX
Tupiza to Uyuni oh the memories, definitely one of the best trips i have ever had and will definitely be back to Bolivia for another trip. Great descriptions of our jeep tour it brought me right back !!! hope you guys are good and miss yous loads
lots of love xxxx
and the flame lives on...... Wow! What a coincidence to happen upon an event so close to your heart and on your travels. I like the way they celebrated - none of the tacky political pageantry of the 'real'games but people just knowing how to enjoy themselves and let their hair down.
I do worry about you two - will you ever settle for mundanity after all your adventures?
Keep on truckin'..................
Salt flats Absolutely amazing. I want to see it all ! Great descriptions. I have to admit I can't help smiling thinking of James 'supremely elegant when standing and majestic in flight ' ,is this the result of your experience at the Bolivian wrestling match ? Ha ha. Yes ,I know you meant the flamingos-I think .
Congratulations to Paula and Yoav .
Special Olympics What a wonderful opportunity and experience to see the Special Olympics in Bolivia. The video really captures the enthusiasm. A definite feel good factor hearing about the Fiesta of Sport. Surprised wrestling wasn't included-a missed opportunity for play acting in style !
wrestling James, since you wrote this blog I can only assume Jessica had taken note of the moves and was prcatising ! Is that a worried smile on your face or bemusement ! Great description ,sounds like a noisy fun evening .
im a lover not a fighter!!! thanks for sendin link great looks like a good night of entertaining paula ringin tomoorrow from ellens going to a drink with them on skype great if u could join off to bed chat soon x x
Rachel wants to know was there spiders in the mine that would be the least of my worries. The two of you must me mad you won't get me going down there eventhough Tio was watching over you both. Ellen
POTOSI James, your account of the conditions in the mine was very moving.I hope the horrendous working conditions start to improve under the new president.Your description made me feel as if I was present with you on the tour .
Journey from hell Couldn't stop laughing ( and feeling sorry for you both ) as I read yoyr hilarious account of your escape from Filadelfia !
As I read,I actually thought 'They could do with a glass of wine or beer' .Was wonderful to read on and here about your wine tasting afternoon. I'm sure you both slept very well. I have never tasted or seen Bolivian wine here but wil keep a lookout for it now.
Paraguayan connection I love reading and re-reading your blogs. I see different interesting features in the photos every time I review them.I also learn more about your trip. I have just realised the riot police were training and there wasn't a riot !I thought you sounded very calm and dismissive about the experience apart from featuring on TV, now I know why .
Wonderful blog and will always be a reminder of the fantastic three weeks we spent with you both.We had our personal guides in you both.Your SA Spanish /Portugeses and knowledge of everyday life in South America helped us have a wonderful holiday.
Power of water Fabulous photos, all were amazing especially the one with the rainbow.I have to admit thinking James as Tarzan as I read, had a problem imagining Jess as Jane though.
Paraguayan connection What a wonderful day you both experienced. You must have been exhausted by the early start -just as well you had lots of rest when we were over !
Why were there riots ? James,as a farmer's son ,could you answer whether it is only Paraguayan chickens that sit on the branches of tree or is this a universal phenomena ?Very funny photo . Looking forward to the next blog
Whow!! The pictures are briliant you can almost hear the thunder of the water. I never imagined you could have so many waterfalls together would love too be there just to see the scale of it.
Ellen

We Stayed There Too! Man what a great place that was! We stayed there camping for 10 days! We couldn't leave. I still keep in touch with them. As a matter of fact they just sent me an email about the La Ruta Maya canoe race in March. You should check out their new biz www.LaRutaMayaOutfitters.com
Setting off with one way tickets to Mexico via Cuba (a two-month detour), we set ourselves the challenge of travelling through Central and South America down to the southern tip of Argentina by bus/train/boat.
We wrote and photographed all our adventures, discoveries and passions - food and football, people and pictures, wildlife and walking, books and buildings, mountains and music. We promise you won't read a boring day-to-day diary, just interesting tales from the road.
Plus for our friends with itchy feet, real backpacking tips direct from the backpack.
Hasta luego!
