Oregon background
Thought you'd like to know that when John and I first got married, we lived just outside of Madras in this very nice double wide with a million dollar view of Mt. Jefferson and the Three Sisters. I worked in Bend at the community college and John was one of 5 deputies working for the Jefferson County Sheriff's office - yes it was VERY small back then! We lived so far in the sticks that mail and newspapers weren't delivered. We have very fond memories of that area. Glad you saw the High Desert Museum and Newberry crater. And you got to see how beautiful Mt Hood is!!

more suggestions
IF you haven't been to Mt St Helens - go. There's a nice campground on the way - Sequest SP (?). Also we would suggest going over the pass at Mt Hood and going down the east side of the Cascades in Oregon. Bend, OR area is beautiful! Another nice campground just north of Bend - Tumalo SP. Then you have the choice of driving Century Drive - definitely worth it if you have the time. There's a great obsidian flow south of Bend, on the way to Crater Lake - which you can access from the east side. Sorry we missed you but there's always next time! Gorgeous pictures of the Olympic Peninsula!
