I wısh ı could say that each day we go out and experıance a new area of turkey and ıts unıque culture but thıs ıs not the case. even though almost everyone would lıke to go out of the Unıversıade vıllage, we are not alowed to because of the hıgh rısk ınvolved. thıs however has not completely soured the experıance of beıng ın Izmır. Things have officially come to an end here at the Olympic Training Center. Today had an eventfull happening as i found out that Brian Waite is not going to be going to the game. i guess he and the coach had been talking since last Thursday and he ended up being replaced by Nate Meerstien from Penn State. I talked to him about it and he seems to be doing ok just a little bummed. I was disapointed to hear the news too as now im going to have one less good friend along for the experiance. There is a little [View Full Entry]

I am sorry that i have not posted any new information for a while now. I wish i could say its because i have been so busy but actually the opposite is true. It has pretty much been a daily grind since the last post and the big news for the week is that i found the snooze button on my alarm clock. The upside of this is that i have gained a few extra minutes of sleep each morning but on the downside is that two days ago i was in a rush and locked my key inside my room. [View Full Entry]

For the past few days the rain has not stopped. at one point today it hailed for about 2 minutes complimented with thunder and lightning. This weather has made getting to and from the gym a much wetter proposition. running from building to building hunched over all your gear while skipping and dodging puddles makes one look more like a soldier from a world war two movie than some one just trying to get to practice and stay dry. The weather has also had an effect on our night life as its much harder for the guys to go out. this [View Full Entry]

Since today (sunday) is our only day off this week the team got together and had a little fun last night. If anyone has spent any time around mens volleyball players they probably know that we like to have fun and we can be a little strange and are definetly dorky at times. having said that, nothing is more fun than a night of dress up so thats what we did. the only rules were you had to have a partner and each of you had to dress up with some sort of theme. Enjoy!! [View Full Entry]

Now that i am aclimated and my legs dont feel like cement any more i have a little more energy to do some writting. i figure some of you wouldnt mind knowing how a typical day goes out here so i will do my best to paint you a little picture. I usually wake up at about 6 o'clock in the morning because i dont trust that my alarm clock will go off at the pre-set time of 7AM. i then fall in and out of sleep waking each time with a jolt because im afraid that i slept through practice.
