Geo: -44.6987, 169.133The days had been counting down and I knew I had to face one of my fears. So far bungy jumping was in the back of my mind as we left Fox Glacier and headed towards Wanaka for some Skiing and Snowboarding at Treble Cone.We stayed in a small rest area at the base of a bridge just before Haast. It was a pretty wet night with some very heavy rain thrashing itself in to the camper and where the river had increased dramatically over night. We pushed on the following day to Wanaka, hoping the weather was clearer over the pass, but it was not. It continued to rain throughout the day. We didn't do too much in Wanaka unfortunately because we were looking forward to visiting it but the rain kept us quiet ... read more

Geo: -43.4643, 170.018It was time to continue the journey down the west coast, known for it's rain, but in our case, once again we were lucky with the clear blue sky. We only had a few hours till we reached Franz Joseph Glacier. We were watching the weather forecast closely though as the forecast was for rain which didn't quite fit in with our Ice Climbing plans on Fox Glacier. We walked up to both Glaciers, Franz and Fox which were both impressive in their own ways. Franz is more steeper and rugged whereas Fox is more mellow and smooth. That night we had to find a place to park the camper, but in a small town like Fox Glacier, finding a spot that you can camp with out paying is near impossible. We tried at ... read more

Geo: -42.9061, 171.549Back in favorable New Zealand, so I am glad my parents have moved back here, it's a good excuse to go back and a good excuse to have another road trip.We jetted over to Christchurch to spend 2 and a half weeks in the South Island, having a one week road trip and spending time the the old folks before we head over to the other side of the world.Things had wrapped up nicely before we left Melbourne, I managed to sell my car but unfortunately at a smaller price than I had hoped. We arrived in to Christchurch on the Sunday and enjoyed the next few days at home with mum and dad in some glorious sunny and cloudless weather. With the great spot where my parents live, each day gives some great views ... read more

Geo: -37.8143, 144.963Melbourne has given us a lot of activities to enjoy over the months, so it's hard to think of what to talk about first. In short we went to the AFL, rugby, a Ben Howard gig as well as finding our way back to Wilsons Promontory and enjoying the sights of Melbourne City.First up AFL; An Iconic Australian cultural game which is huge in Victoria more than anywhere else in Australia. Anna and I, accompanied with our neighbours, Xavier and Pauline and a good friend of mine, Nick, headed to the MCG to a Friday night blockbuster with Reigning premiers Collingwood taking on the equally favourable Geelong. The attendance topped 75,000 in a very exciting game. It was great to be able to go with Anna, Xavier and Pauline as it was their first ... read more

Geo: -33.7318, 143.001I consider Mungo National park to be a hidden treasure full of spectacular landscape and rich cultural history. We did have a thought to come here at the start of the trip, but the distance we would have driven and the short amount of time meant we had to bypass it. After spending the night in Burra, we continued towards the Murray River to Waikere and Renmark. We thought it would be nice to see this area but the weather didn't fill us with the desire to explore. After a short stop in Waikere for some food supplies we pushed on to Renmark through a multitude of weather patterns. It rained a bit, many rainbows popped up. The worst was being stuck behind trucks as the sprayed water all over the car and making ... read more

Geo: -31.3612, 138.654We were looking forward to exploring this beautiful area and after a night in the car park just outside of the Wilpena bound road we took a cheeky free shower at the campsite. We then set forth for the Mount Ohlssen Bagge walk which took about 3 hours return up some steep parts for some more amazing views of inside the pound and also Flinders Ranges. Unfortunately the weather was not the best but the views still made up for that. We enjoyed a nice lunch and then made the easier walk downhill. Next stop was the Aboriginal sight called the sacred canyon at the end of a 14km dirt road.It was definitely worth the drive because it was in a small gorge but it also had Aboriginal markings which weren't behind bars.I have ... read more

Geo: -31.3612, 138.654There is something so alluring about the outback, a harsh, rugged and desolate place at times which is also extremely beautiful and amazing. By now the generational gap when it comes to visiting the outback appears. All you see along the roads are campervans and caravans and behind the wheel are two older retiree's in most cases, setting off on their trip around Australia. And the odd family or two, but they appear more frequently in the school holidays. So why is it that you see so little of our age group there? I am not sure but after visiting the Flinders Ranges National Park, we are eager to see the rest of the outback. We set off from Broken Hill to the Remarkable National Park, driving through some deserted and flat land. After ... read more

Geo: -31.9592, 141.467Refer to Previous Blogs, Just add Anna!Haha Just Kidding.I like this place. Miles from anywhere but it still has a lot to offer. This was to be our first stop off in our 10 day trip through the outback. After finishing my course we wasted no time and left for Mildura by 12pm the next day. It wasn't the most exciting day, just covering 550km to Mildura. We arrived by 7pm and set up camp which consisted of us sleeping in my car in our fold over bed set up. We parked in the information center car park and thus starting our daily routine of pasta dinners, sneaking in free showers and car sleeping. We were aiming to save money by sleeping in the car and with almost $500 in the kitty from selling a ... read more

Geo: -37.0333, 142.5The Grampians is a nice little place to getaway for the day or even for a night. It may be small but it offers some nice walks and views. Pity we went over the long weekend as crowds are not my favourite, but it was still really nice.We left late on the Saturday night after Anna finished work and three hours later we arrived at the campsite, set up the tent and cooked dinner. It wasn't the best of nights, and I don't know why people can't respect the environment they are in (alcohol being a contributing factor), but one group of people were still up at 2am playing music and being loud. A bit over the deadline of 10pm in the rules. And when that selfish group was ushered to sleep by the rain, not ... read more

Geo: -39.0301, 146.321It stands to reason that going to Wilsons Promontory would be better in summer, but going in winter can also have it's benefits. I had never been before and probably through my ignorance in my younger years tended to block it out of my radar. But now, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to explore this amazing area of land.We set off for an anniversary weekend on the first day of winter. After a few chores during the day we set off and arrived just after dark to Tidal River. Within minutes of entering the park I was already spotting numerous wild Wombats and Kangaroos. We picked one spot out of the 400+ empty ones at the camp site and surveyed the surroundings, but in dark. The temperature was quite cold so we knew we were ... read more
