Chengde is from Beijing about 260 km to the north and it takes a four hour drive by car. The Mountain Resort and the Eight Outer Temples is the largest imperial park in China covering an area of nearly 6 square km. It was the Qing Dynasty who started the project in 1703. Hong Luo Si - Red Snail Temple Summary: About 60 km from Beijing in Huairou District you find the Hong Luo Si Temple also called the Red Snail Temple. Some crazy story about a fairy manifesting in snails that emitted red light after dark drove the monks in residence to change the name of this temple to Red Snail Temple. It's the largest Buddhist temple in northern China with lots of paved hiking paths that lead between small pagodas. Lieve vrienden en vriendinnen, Vandaag geen echte travelblog, maar een fotoreportage van het startschot van een fantastische actie voor de kinderen van de Beatrix kinderkliniek van het UMCG. Onder het motto "Laat het zieke kind stralen" is vandaag in de ontvangsthal van het UMCG door cabaretier Youp van 't Hek in bezielende bewoordingen de aftrap voor deze actie gedaan. De opbrengst van deze actie is bestemd voor de bouw van een kindertheater in de patio van de Beatrix Kinderkliniek.
