Part of us is glad that we had the 'preparation' one might say of seeing the traffic in Hanoi; it was immediately apparent that Ho Chi Min took the whole thing to a completely new level. Crossroads, engulfed in a sea of motorcycles, scooters drive on the pavement to cut corners, cars, busses, all peeping horns. The new adopted strategy of mine was (as waiting for the traffic to clear was utterly pointless) just to try and ensure that oncoming traffic was aware we were crossing.
