Well, after Michael breaking his foot at our farewell Ceilidh, we are finally off on our travels after 2 months delay. First stop Hong Kong, then South East Asia, Australia then New Zealand. Then if our funds will pan out we hope to go to Nepal and India to catch trekking season. See you back in Scotland in May 2010! Keep in touch folks!Michael and Laura

Well here we are in Queenstown. Home for a while...at least until the snow starts melting! Bought our ski season passes, skis, boots and the rest so we are set to go!! Spent the first week of our stay here in a caravan park, but promptly decided to look for a room for the winter as it's pretty bloomin cold. Also after a night of torrential rain we discovered that the van is leaking... right onto Michael's pillow. Poor soul had a cold and a stiff neck for a week after. Got plenty of exercise trapsing around Queenstown looking for a flat, but after a week we found a nice (cheap!) flat that we are both happy with, only 5 minutes walk into the town centre. Perfect! After 5 weeks in Mount Maunganui we decided it was time to move on. Back on the road we travelled south to Taupo which is probably the most popular place for tourists on the north island. Went for a quiet pint at night and couldn't believe how busy it was! Ended up joining in a pub quiz, no prizes but we were quite pleased that we did just as well as most of the other teams which had at least 6 folk in them compared with little old us two. Needless to say we didn't join in the games where you had to swap ALL your clothes bar 1 item, quite funny to watch right enough! Think this must be the coldest night we've had in the van so far.
