Caio! Today we went to Florence with class, we took the early train through Tuscany and the ride was beautiful! When we got to our hotel, we went to the San Lorenzo market for lunch and shopping... it was the biggest market I have ever seen! After that, we went to the Uffizi Galleries. And passed the Cathedral, called the Duomo. We spent hours in the Uffizi museums and saw some of the most important Renissance art. Works by Rafael, Micheangelo, and Leonardo D'Vinci. Now we are back the hotel Azzi, and going to a fancy restaurant with class in a bit! Tomorrow we get out of class early so we are going wine tasting after! Heading to Venice on Saturday. ByE! ... read more

June 10th 2009

So for the past few days we have just been going to class in Rome for most of the day then heading back to Frascati for nightly dinner. Yesterday, we were craving Mexican food (in Italy, I know!) so we went on a long journey to find one of the few Mexican restaurants in Rome, we found it after an hour or two of walking. But, it was closed! So we just got Mcdonalds instead, haha. I did go to a mozzerella bar earlier that day that was delicious! In class we traveled to Piazza del Popolo with Santa Maria del Popolo in it. We also went to Piazza Francese, where the French embassy to Italy is located. Afterwards, we traveled down the Via Guilia and crossed the Tiber river into the Trastevere neighborhood. While there, ... read more

Well I have not been on in a while because i have had no internet! ashley and I went to barcelona, very interesting city. its beautiful but the people are dirty and LOVE to steal. there were two attempts to pick pocket ashley. We went to the Gaudi church and the Gaudi apartments which were very modern and cool looking. We also went to La Rambla, which is the main street there with many shops, restaurants, etc. We had some DELICIOUS tapas and Paella. I compare it to Louisiana jambalaya. We ended up staying in a very nice hotel by the ports after we arrived at our first "hotel" that was not safe or sanitary. We came back to Frascati yesterday and had class all day today. We went to two churches in the Roman forum, ... read more

Hello! Sorry the internet has been down in Frascati, yesterday and today we wen to many churches for class. San Giovanni yesterday, and saw the jubilee door that reminded me of my last trip to Rome. Then we went next door to the baptistery and finally we were suppose to go to San Stefano, but it was closed. Luckily, there are hundreds of churches here so we just went to one near by, called Santa Maria in Domnica. Today we went to St. Maria Magggiore... BEAUTIFUL! GORGEOUS! I loved it! After we went to churches of two sister saints, Santa Predesse and Santa Prudenziana. I have learned so much about art these past two days, and I think I could give a tour of Roman churches and how to read the art in them.. I was ... read more

We thought it would rain today so we did not plan on going to the beach or Naples. We headed to Rome in the morning, and of course it happened that our weather predictions were all wrong.. Italian meteorologists do not seem that reliable. Anyway, we wen to shop in the city, sorry! And we must have spent 6 hours in restaurants today. So much good food and wine especially! We had lunch, snack, 2 dinners, and a midnight snack :) it was SO delicious! My open-ess to new foods is becoming more evident. After rome we just came back to frascati to hang out here. My camera is not connecting to the computer for some reason but I will put up pictures tomorrow! Goodnight! Buona Notte! and Bein Noche (I need to work on my ... read more

Today, I did not have class so of course I took advantage of that fact and slept as late as I could, which ended up being at 1:30 in the afternoon. I must admit I loved every second of it. After I woke up, Ashley, Alexa and I went to Rome for the day. We went to lunch by the Trevi Fountain and then headed over to the shopping area. AWESOME! We then went to the Spanish Piazza and had dinner there. It is suppose to rain all weekend so we will probably not go to Naples. If it looks clear tomorrow morning we may head to the beach by roma. We had to take a cab back to Frascati, and got totally ripped off which I am angry about. The trains had stopped running by ... read more

today was lovely, we went to the palotine hill, the imperial palace for the ancient roman emperors. then we went to the collosieum and the roman forum which were of course interesting. it was looking like rain in rome, but thanks to my dad ashley and I had ponchos! we then had a discussion on how unsanitary rome and europe was in general in ancient times, which really shed a new light on rome for me (this class was in frascati) we then got dinner and went out because one of the girls birthday's was today. tomorrow, we are going to the beach near Rome and Naples on Saturday. I would love to hear in detail the news in the US if someone could fill me in... caio! ... read more

Today, we went to the St. Peters, under the basilica. We also went into Vatican City behind St. Peters, including St. Stephen's Church. We saw the tomb of St. Peter's, and all the other Catholic popes. We also saw where the "bones" of St. Peter were held. We saw the pagan graveyards under the church. IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL! We saw the church that Constantine built under the current church of St. Peter's. I saw the tomb of Pope John Paul the II, it brought me to tears... Afterward, Ashley and I went shopping then took the train back to Frascati. We had dinner with everyone then watched the soccer championships. GO BARCELONA!!!! Caio!... read more
