So, after leaving Paihia (sadly) we returned to Auckland (thankfully only for one night) to begin our kiwi bus tour. For those who aren't familiar with the bus, basically (depending on what tour you buy) it takes you around, stops off in diffeent places, shows you some seriously random stuff and arranges activities etc. for you. Has a massive reputation for being a party bus but essentially its just an epic experience. So left Auckland on the Monday morning to head to Mercury Bay. Stopped en route in a place called Hot water beach where you dig holes into the sand and to reach the boiling hot water underneath and you just chill out in your little homemade hot tub on the beach (well in theory, in places the water is boiling and just burns everyone) ... read more

Apologies for the delay on this entry but I have been having far to much fun since we got on the Kiwi Bus on Sunday. So, finally left Auckland to head up to the Bay of Islands in the North. Only as we were heading up there and looking at the scenery did we realise how pants Auckland was (since then have not met anyone who is an Auckland fan at all) So we stayed in Paihia which is sort of the main Island out of the 144 that are up there. Gorgeous hostel with a pool and hot tub and it was actually clean which was a nice change! Paihia is tiny, only one street and a hole mass of beaches so we spent that day just on the beach and having a bbq in ... read more

Arrived in Auckland...neither me or Yvo had slept in 2 days so we were like the walking dead. Got to customs and had lots of questions posed to us. Then had to declare my walking boots. The woman took one look at them and said 'I need to clean these' so now they're very clean and smell a tad like disinfectant. Got to the hostel at 7am so couldn't check in until 1. Walked around the city in a massive daze then as soon as we got into our room we fell asleep for a few hours. Great introduction to hostel living....the loudest and most irritating spaniards talking at 3am (spaniards don't know how to whisper!!) Tried to get up, had a meal then pretty much went back to bed. Next day was far more productive. ... read more

So, after arriving at Heathrow about 5 hours early we got on our 12 hour flight. Absolute nightmare....watching films for all that time is apparently only fun in theory. Anyway, got to Hong Kong about 7pm Thursday evening exhausted. Had to lie as I entered the country as they were asking alot of questions about any flu symptoms I'd had in the last 7 days. Pretended I hadn't even had a cough as I didn't think they'd let me in. Got to the centre of Kowloon. Strangre American man asked if we knew where we were, when we said no he asked if we wanted to just go with him. . Oddly enough we declined. Found the hotel. Terrified when we first saw it. It is an enormous block of flats built on the top of ... read more
