I really enjoyed seeing these pictures! In June 2009 I was able to travel to China, and experience the Terra-Cotta armies myself. If only everyone could have the chance to see other countries and experience other cultures.

Thank you! I had it right in my first post of Xi'an and then guess I just got tired and didn't realize my mistake - I made these a bit hurriedly, ha

I was just here last night with two of my friends- we're American students studying in Xi'an. I saw the clearest sky I've ever seen and the most beautiful sunrise I've ever seen. Definitely worth the climb! Just be careful! It can be dangerous.

Huashan is in Shaanxi Province, not Shanxi Province. Shaanxi and Shanxi are divided by the Huanghe(yellow) river. Though the Chinese writings and pronunciations for Shaanxi and Shanxi are different, but in Pinyin they are the same. So, in oder to differentiate them, an extra "a" is added to the English name of west province.

...
It's not My canteen, ha, just one the restaurant put water in to serve us. I just carry around my nalgene bottle with me everywhere. Oh and that's the only restaurant I've run into yet that boils the water. Two others that I asked for water served it to me and it was fine

RMB
RMB is the title like USD for the US Dollars. It's actually called yuan (kuai for slang) here and it's 6.8 kuai per 1 dollar

Never thought I'd hear the word chilling and Bomb Shelter used in the same sentence together, just doesn't sound grammatically correct for some reason, since I can remember the days of the bomb shelters here with the slogan, "Duck and Cover!" Now in your case it's "Drink and Recover!" Heh-heh.... However I do want you to know I have my concerns with this when I heard you were going to go out alone. You need to show me on the map where this Gymn is you talked about using instead of the one on campus.

Hello Kitty Thermos
They honestly boil the water they give you and we ........don't have trust issues? Don't lose your canteen son. In fact if I were you I'd get on E-Bay right now and buy them out.

Sounds like a workout! I'l have one son who can fence and another who can do martial arts, and another who can play WOW. Can't beat that . I suppose Steph will come back as a sumo wrestler, to round it out.

Desserts
Well if all else fails you at least have your chocolate to fall back on. This city seems to be an architectural heaven for the modern builder as well as ecclectic and historical designers

Smog
Really is a lot cleaner than I imagined it would be over there. The architectural types are so varied and modern and yet ecclectic in other areas. Really amazed, and you're pics are amazing too! Do love the vice grip picture. Kind of reminded me a little of Hiro.

Shoes
Love all the shoes parked under the bed. I'm sure you and Scot will get along fine, never really met anyone you couldn't get along with. Sounds like Brandon and Sean are pretty neat.

Old White Guy?
Why is it that when you are talking about Cambodians, Asians, etc., basically not of American descent they're all looking yooounger than they really are or they are thinner than most Americans you met on the flight or at the airport. Keep in mind I am a middle-aged woman and mother not in the best of shape but not that bad either and I better not here you calling me that in any country. Heh-heh,,,,,,I'm joshing with you:)

Scary........Trip !
It reminds me of that movie The Andromeda Strain seeing those guys in their safety gear. I just don't know how many glasses of wine or saki it would take me to feel comfortable under such conditions.
