You wanted pictures of amazing Sri Lanka, here they are! After Colombo, our first serious stop is the hill city of Kandy. You should have seen the smile of Tiffany when we told her we are going to Kandy...but hey little girl, this one is with a K, not a C! Our first question with Mari once we reached Kandy was...but where are the tea plantations? Well, we will found out later one that the tea plantations are higher, and actually to the South. Kandy is at 562 meters high. We took the three hours train from Colombo. It's only just over 100km, so you guess it, a very leisurely ride. 1st class was full, and would have been 3usd per ticket one-way. The second class was still more than appropriate, and was 2usd one-way per ... read more

This is an introduction to our next ten days of fun in Sri Lanka. Leslie and Tiffany have a full week of school holidays, so we hit the road closer to home this time. Today, as I'm writting this, the one week holidays has actually turn into a three weeks break for them, as school in Bangkok are now closed till 7th of November due to widespread floodings. For info, home, school and all the area around us is still fully dry under a beautiful sun (today!). Few the next few blogs, i may give you some updates about our little lives in Bangkok. Hopefully we will still be able to have power...and communications to the outside world. So let's come back to our ten days adventure in Sri Lanka. This is one of the first ... read more

Exactly 15 years ago, my parents brought me to the airport of Brussels for my own little adventure. I had a 6 months return ticket to Hong Kong, and I was going to try my luck in Asia. I still remember the question of my Mum...for how long do you think it's going to be? My answer....it will be between three weeks and twenty years! Guess what, I believe it could be well over twenty years. A little background first...I'm born in Luxembourg and have grown up in this lovely, if not a little boring country for my first 22 years. Not 100% true as I have spent all my schooling right on the other side of the border in Belgium. Early years were spent just across the border, high school in a boarding school in ... read more

Some dive are more impressive than others...some are actually even colder than your average dive! Today challenge, diving the Great Divide of Silfra in the Thingvellir National Park. I know, you are asking me but what the hell is he speaking about. Fifty kilometers from Reykjavik lay the Thingvellir National Park with a huge lake in the middle of it. This lake is actually fed by water filtring from glaciers way away from here. And in the middle of this wonderland is Silfra. This is the crack in between two seismic plates, being the European plate and the North American plate. In some places this crack has been filled through the centuries by water melting and filtering from surrounding glaciers. This means the water is at a constant 2 degrees celsius...but better, this water is so ... read more

From Swaziland to Iceland in eight days...yes it did happen. Little transfer in South Africa, few days in Bangkok, party week-end in Saigon with Mari, little transfer in Oslo and I made my way to Reykjavik. I'm still alive! For the next three days I'm going to enjoy the first few days of the Icelandic winter, or should I say the last few days of the Icelandic summer. Temperatures...well, between -1 and up to 9 degrees celsius. I'm not going to say it was cold! The good news, is that days were still pretty long with sunrise at 7am and sunset at 7pm, not bad! My first stop was Reykjavik international airport to rent a car for 48 hours. The airport is a seriously busy affair...beside our SAS plane, I spotted one more single aircraft behind ... read more

My flight from Congo arrived in Joburg at 3pm, and my connecting flight would have been at lunch hour the next day. So instead of staying 22 hours in Joburg, I decided to take 24 more hours for a little more of discovery. This week-end, it would be Swaziland! Rented a car in JNB and drove the few hours east to the border of South Africa and Swaziland. I stopped first for some shopping (aka bringing some wine back home to Thailand) and other necessities. Sunset is already at 6pm, so it was dark pretty early, not much sightseeing for me. And by 7pm, I was in deep...I mean deep fog on the way to Mbabane. Well...I stuck myself behind a car who seems to know his way, and follow that car at short distance to ... read more

Some moment in our life are more important than others. For some of these moments, we have to wait for years. Today, I give you one of the happiest moment of "La Maison du bonheur". Today, Tiffany is joining us, for a while to share our adventures in Thailand. Today, is the most beautiful day of my life, or time will tell if it really is.... Most of my friends are asking me, but what did happen? How is it that Tiffany is now in Bangkok? I have spent a lot of time in courts over the last 9 years, but haven't been any way close to one for the last 15 months, so what did happen? I'm the first to have to admit that there are a lot of the pieces of the puzzle missing. ... read more

You are going to ask...but what do they have with all these birthdays...The answer is pretty simple, Mari birthday is just two days behind the one of Leslie. So in our little family, we've got a "birthday season"!The tricky part for me, it is the date is also a "shoulder period" for us, the end of long summer holidays, and the back to school requirements! Not that easy to organize huge parties! Mari never came to Las vegas. The little guys are in the plane, so why not drive the few hours for the last leg of our summer crazy adventure. We started by a huge traffic jam just to be able toleave LA. What do I mean by huge...well, around 100km without hitting speeds over 40km/h max. Good news, the music is good, the Mustang ... read more

We are entering the last few days of our little West Coast adventure. South California is the kingdom of theme parks. Done already in the past were Universal Studios, and twice with Leslie at Seaworld. Few months ago, I asked Leslie where would he wanted to go for his birthday, the answer was straightforward....Papa, can we go to Legoland! Leslie is now 11, eleventh years old love Lego...but the funny thing is as much as this love is peaking, we know that it will fade very soon with the teenager years coming faster than we think. Our last few days will be divided in three places, Raging Waters in San Dimas, Seaworld in San Diego and Legoland next to Carlsbarg. First little point for parents reading this. Two kids, two adults, this hurt your wallet solid...not ... read more

This entry is about a road, not a place. After our great time in Monterey, we headed South to Ventura on the Highway 1. We left pretty early, which made it for even a better drive. The sun was out there, but the fog was in full power hugging the coastline too. This made it for a very bizarre drive. The Highway One here is one more time anything else than a straight road. It's bend after bend after bend. I wish I would stop every two minutes to enjoy the scenery, but I still end up stopping every 5 minutes to get blow away by the beauty of the place. This is a paradise road to drive a Mustang on. It's a place where if google map tells me there is one hour drive, I ... read more
