I still had the book "Paris 1999" sitting on my bookshelf collecting dusts. It took me nearly 10 years to get to Paris. School, work, money always get in the way.......Finally, I am in Paris, city of light, city of romance, and cit of crepes. (We over indulged on Nutella crepes). Few days in Paris was a memory of lifetime. [View Full Entry]

I was one of the 13 millions people visiting Notre Dame de Paris in 2007. Needless to say, its majestic Gothic architectures and elaborate sculptures were breathtaking. Its colorful rose windows, filtered with sun light, gave a deep serenity and peace of mind. I sat there quietly for few minutes to take all this in. What draw the most of my attention were the leering Gargoyles of the cathedral. E and I waited in line for at least an hour before we could climb the steep stairs to the top of the cathedral tower. It was definitely worth the wait and [View Full Entry]

After visiting Stonehenge, we continued our trip to Bath, another world heritage site for its architecture and history. Since I didn't do any research, I didn't know what to expect from Bath. When we arrived, I instantly fell in love with this beautiful city. After spending few days in London, Bath was a welcoming and pleasant scenery change. Bath is very picturesque. Every turn, there was a stunning site. The river, the hills, the buildings, the people... The air in Bath was crisp and refreshing. My spirit was lifted. London reminded me too much of New York city. But, Bath, reminded [View Full Entry]

Since we arrived in London, it has been unseasonably cold and rainy. I was exhilarating to see a blue sunny sky on the day we traveled through country roads to see the famous Stonehenge. I read about this prehistoric monument in books. I watched it on the Discovery channel. Finally, I saw the Stonehenge with my own eyes. Situated in a vast plain, Stonehenge was truly impressive! I was awed by these massive, 5000 year-old stones. Some of the largest and heaviest stones where shipped from Wales, at least 100 miles away. Who build the Stonehenge? How did they do it? On the way to the British museum, the bus driver told me that they had the perfect sunny spring weather for 2 weeks just prior to my arrival. I, wrapped in 4 layers of spring clothe, was still shivering after getting off the bus. This is exactly how I remember my London trip: wet and cold. One of the exciting aspect of traveling to a foreign country is that you become temporarily incompetent. I would probably be killed thousands of times if the British had not painted "look right" and "look left" on the ground of the major intersections. Of course, [View Full Entry]

What is better than celebrating my big birthday in Maui? When I close my eyes every night, I can still hear the sound of the ocean, I can still feel the sands between my toes, I can still smell the fragrance of tropical flowers. I remember the taste of Kalua pig & cabbages from "Aloha Mixed Plate", the seared beef on grilled papaya from "Mama's Fish House" and macadamia nuts pancakes from "Gazebo". I remember the excitement of biking down the Haleakala and the close encounter with green turtls. It was indeed a happy birthday. [View Full Entry]
