Emiliano & Gabriella I stayed with a bunch of friends at Emiliano & Gabi's place, that was in 1999. glad to see they are still there. We really annoyed Emiliano one night because we helped ourselves to his kitchen when he & Gabi were out for the evening. We thought he'd said it was cool to use their kitchen. He gave us this lecture about being the king of the mountain & that he used to be a guerilla fighter in Guatemala. He was cool though after he calmed down. I think he was upset that we hadn't invited him & Gabi and waited till he'd gone out. The following morning he took us out for an turtle spotting boat trip & cooked us a massive red snapper in the evening. The beach is beautiful at Mazunte unlike Zipolite down the coast. I hope it's still relatively un-touristy! Of course the place looks totally different now in your photos than all that time ago. Good memories.
So True Hahaha, we had similar experience--in this town, the monkeys rule. I was traveling with my 4 young children, and it was always a tossup whether any particular monkey was going to be funny or aggressive. Overall, we just treated them like semi-tame street dogs (that can get in your pack), and we were fine. They were gremlins, though, all grasping hands and jumpy.
ENCHANTING! Wow! I was planning to head there on my trip[ to Kerala. I am studying in Utarkashi in April, but traveling India until then. I can't wait to read about your experience...
