Good Job, girls! Well, your job is done and you are back in Alaska! Congratulations on a job well done! You are all tan and hopefully your tan will last till prom! Some of you are minus a few personal items, but now you know how to take care of yourselves when traveling. Tasha, you need a new pair of sunglasses! Mary, get used to a new pillow!
Girls, make-up takes too much time - makes you late for everything!
By the way-whoever took all those pictures did a fantastic job!
Happy studying!

You are doing GREAT! Okay, I know I am here with you, but you wanted a comment so here it is! Mary, Tasha, and Saulina you did a great job on the blog today! I know it's a lot of work, but you will be able to look back at it and remember this trip and what you did each day. Have fun today with Mr. Jarvill and take lots of photos for your memories (and the blog!) Jen
PS I will miss you today when I am out in the hot sun working on sharks and you are swimming in the pool at HPA!
awesome Thank you ladies for sharing your awesome journey with us all. It sounds like you are learning alot about the whales, a new culture and making new friends along the way. What a wonderful opportunity you all have been given (I'm jealous-jokes). I know that you must be having a blast! Take care ladies and thanks for the news and great pics. Ms. Michelle

cool shirt mary i'm liking the shirt. your so into that plant mary, its like >:l omg this plant is intense. jk. you girls are looking hot, especially you mary, but im also liking the turquoise color.
Nice Turtle Wow! That's a cool picture of a turtle! Aren't they just peaceful and quiet? I like how they swim in the water...long, long time ago the natives of Hawaii used to eat these. Believe it or not, I was adopted by a Hawaiian Family when I was going to college at UH/Hilo and I actually got to taste turtle soup....that was looooong time ago!
The rocky beach looks inviting. I used to bike there from the dorms at UH/Hilo during the week-ends. Early in the morning is the best time to go snorkling there. Many, many kinds of fish and very beautiful!
Love the look of Mauna Kea-the snow is very real at the top! I used to go sledding there- check this out....with cardboard pieces because there were no sleds at Hawaii at that time. Gee, I wonder if they have sleds up there now for rent?
The water looks so calm and inviting! The boat is huge...I am so happy that you are having a blast! Continue to do so on a daily basis because this looks like a once in a lifetime deal. Enjoy!
Loves to all of you...oh, yeah-especially to my Princess! Sniffs!
Nia's mom signing off (Ina Bouker)
Have Fun in the Sun Wow! That was an exciting trip...especially when a cell phone and a laptop went missing! I would have had a cow! Holy Cow, girls!
Anyway, isn't the vegetation awesome in Hilo? You are in my old college stomping grounds! I am jealous as heck!
I wonder which street the house is on that you guys are renting?
Which black sand beach did you guys go to?
If you guys are dancing again anytime soon...remember that the song goes like this:
Tar-vaur-nau-ram-ken a-ya-a-a-a aya-a-a-a
Tar-vaur-nau-ram-ken a-ya-a-a-a aya-a-a-a
Lug-aur-nau-ram-ken pi-ka-ni-yan-ni-yar-tut A-ya
Aaa-er-raa Er-raa Eee-ya-auna Ya-a-ai!
Loves to all of you especially my Princess....By the way, I am Nia's mom!
Also, don't forget to study in the sun-Okay?

We are four students from Mt. Edgecumbe High School in Sitka, Alaska. We are traveling to Hawaii from February 17-March 2, 2008 to participate in an exchange with humpback whale researchers. We have been learning about whales and research from local marine biologist Jan Straley. Jan has been studying humpback whales in southeast Alaska for close to 30 years. In Alaska we see the feeding behaviors of humpbacks, in Hawaii we are hoping to see the different behaviors that occur during the mating and calving season. Students and faculty from University of Hawaii in Hilo have arranged for us to j... full info
