So...... the tickets were booked so long ago, and after months of working hard and lots of planning and of course Luke leaving his job with Mr Ramsay to do this, the time has come and were off on our next adventure......................... AUSTRALIA!!
So the plan was a multi-stop ticket just to break up that long journey, with the route being.....
First stop Chicago - where we'll spend time with my Family for a week.
Then off to Mexico, Guatamala, Belize & hopefully Honduras - Where we'll just see as much as possible and of course spend a little time on those beautiful beaches!!
Next L.A. - we had to stop here in order to get to Oz, not sure yet what we'll do here!
New Zealand is our next stop - Visiting Luke's friends and throwing Luke out of a plane, and maybe some other various adrenaline packed activities will fill our days before Christmas!
Final Destination AUSTRALIA (Sydney first)!! - Just in time for Christmas & New Year with our friends Kelly and Tom.
Just after New Year Luke has a few important job interviews lined up in various cities, then we'll settle where we can!
This is here to update family and friends along our travels................ take care and come visit!!!!
Miss you all!!!
So its been exactly 40 days since our arrival in Australia (Sydney), but it feels like a lifetime! We arrived on the 20th December early in the morning and made our way to our hostel! Compared to many other hostels it was quite nice, and we checked into our room for the two weeks! We started off by going to get ourselves Australian phones, so that we could get sorted with things straight away and then we headed out to meet Kelly and Tom our friends from back home who had arrived in Sydney the same day, we were to spend the next 3 weeks with them! So Christmas and New year came and went in a heartbeat but we enjoyed every minute. We spent Xmas eve on a wine tour in the Hunter Valley then

We arrived at 5am and waited till 7am in the airport for our car to arrive, when it didn't we called up only to find out the rental company thought we were arriving the following day, so we booked another car at the airport instead! Numpty Luke had forgotten his licence so it was only me insured to drive the car, much to Lukes dismay. We decided the best thing to do would be to get straight into the journey, so we headed onto the highway and down to Taupo, taking about 3 hours,

We stayed in the city on a street littered with homeless people. I have never been so shocked, I thought America was a wealthy country, yet these poor people have nothing, the streets in LA are crowded with people, many with disabilities that disturbs you so much. We tried to enjoy it, but after doing the whole super LA tour, seeing where all the stars live, Hollywood, Santa Monica and various other places we are still confused as to why people live there, its completely overrated and I couldn't think of anywhere else I have disliked as much. Needless to say, we are glad of another

We travelled from Flores in Guatemala, a trip that took us a long time, cramped in another bus, with yet another annoyingly difficult border crossing. This time after asking at least 3 sets of people if we needed any money to cross and being told no each time we tried to cross the border with no money. Only for us to find out that we did need money and then they refused to let Luke cross (they had already stamped my passport so technically I could leave.) After lots of arguing and begging, they finally let us cross, taking some random US dollar noted we managed to find. So we headed straight for Belize city, and hopped onto the Caye

So First stop in Guatemala was Lake Atitlain and the hippy town of Panajachel, we liked it here, and we understood why so many people just stayed, the lake is amazing!! So Gorgeous! We spant the fisrt day checking out the town and the surrounding lake and then the 2nd day we decided to make up a tour! We thought we were getting a good deal with this guy and his boat, he was going to take us to the thermal waters to swim and then to the little town of Santa Elia. So off we set. And 20 minutes later our boat guy said "hot, get out and swim!"

We were staying in a cute little hotel called El Quijote with Emillio and Marta (the owners) who helped us learn Spanish more and we helped with their already great English. The first day we spent the day wandering the sights, of course the Cathedral was first on the list, and again was as lovely as the others. We went to another Museum and spent the day basking in the Oaxacan sun. Day two we decided to do the tour to Monte Alban, which would be our first really "real" Mexican ruins. We did the tour with some really nice people, an American girl Sarah and a Australian Lochlan (from our new town

One night we went bowling with everyone, I was embarrassed that my score was about 38 (everyone else´s was over 90) due to me missing all the skittles most of the time, oh but more embarrassing for Luke was when he was asked for I.D. at the bar, and because he had left it at home he was refused a drink - ha!! And we had a lovely meal out with everyone at a nice restaurant, all in all Chicago was wonderful, so thank you Auntie Hazel, Uncle Rod, Miles & Oli!!! Our last night

The last week before we left was a strange one, we had massive highs and massive lows. Luke's grandma Alice was very poorly and on the Thursday before we left she unfortunately passed away, which left everyone devastated, especially Luke, who is so thankful he had such a wonderful Grandma for 25 years, she will be missed dearly. On the Friday Luke took myself, my mom and his parents out for lunch to say thanks to them to for everything they've done for us, and I had the surprise of my life when Luke asked the question every girl wants to be asked!! There was no hesitation and I of course said yes! The following Saturday
