Well this is my last day of the holiday :( Yesterday I went into Hollywood for my Dearly Departed tour. It was faantastic, the bus only holds 13 so its a really personal tour. The guide Brian learnt all our names and included us all. We even had a trivia round and i won the first tootsie roll!! The tour was not only about deaths it was also a great history lesson on unusual Hollywood like the red light that flashes on top of the capitol records building actually spells out Hollywood in morse code! We drove and parked up(when we could) by several infamous homes including the Menendez house,Michael Jackson's(which was funny as there was actually security around it with a big camera taking pics of anyone who stops! Totally different from the other day! ... read more

Very busy day today! First of all it has been hot today and its gonna get hotter! I went on my Warner Bros tour this morning which was really great. I saw various sets including Merlotte's from True Blood, Heath Ledger's Joker costumes from The Dark Knight as well as Batman's suit. There is a vehicle shed which had Clint Eastwood's Gran Torino from the film of the same name, General Lee, various Batmobiles including the new one. It was really interesting how they reuse all the streets and dress them to look completely different. Rather than get dropped off at my hotel i asked the driver to leave me at the Starline offices which are just behind the Kodak theatre. I went to the Hollywood Museum which was full of costumes and info on classic ... read more

So this is my first offical day in LA, i didnt do much yesterday afternoon,i just headed out to get food as i was mega tired. I awoke thinking it was really late when it was only 9:30pm so i definately needed it! I had my big LA tour this morning so i was up bright and early. We made our way onto Muholland Dr and passed Bela Lugosi's old house which now belongs to Johnny Depp, and we then stopped at the Hollywood sign, it was a pretty touching moment and i got a great pic! We then headed to Hollywood Blvd which is great, full of all kinds of shops, there is a Madame Tussauds, Ripleys and of course the Kodak theatre and Graumans Chinese Theatre. I took lots of pics of the foot ... read more

There is something about Vegas that is so tiring besides all the walking..the heat! I much prefer night time Vegas, not only are all the lights on but the heat is much more bearable. Yes it is still hot at night but not so extreme like the day. It isnt pleasant walking around during the day, especially when you have hot winds blowing on you! So this is why I have been mainly keeping indoors during the day, only venturing out to cross roads etc I havent really done much besides window shop at really expensive boutiques and drink a lot(not just booze, lots and lots of water!!) Its funny because everyone looks to be suffering during the day but at night its all smiles at all the pretty lights. So I saw Penn & Teller ... read more

Sorry i shouldve done this last night but i was too tired! So the flight here was lovely, only an hour and half and i had a window seat. We had to use the steps to get off the plane and as soon as i stepped out the heat hit me. It is so hard to describe unless you have been here, it is just pure dry heat, like standing in front of bonfire. And it hits you everywhere! The airport is lovely and the first thing you see are the slots. I got talking to another couple from Manchester who are doing my tour but they are doing the deluxe. They stayed at The Hilton in SF and Treasure Island here, we are at the same hotel in LA so i we laughed at how ... read more

So my plan for going to the golden gate bridge were stopped today as it was so cold and very foggy. I walked as far as i could but it just got too much and i decided to head back. Next time! So i got some dinner from In & Out, i have been wanting to go ever since I saw The Big Lebowski(it is kind of a running thing in it) Anyway those burgers are good!! They make them fresh to order and they arent like crappy mcdonalds flat burgers, they are proper thick with nice buns and salad. The fries are freshly cut on premises too! I sat at the beach for a while with my dinner and watched the Sharkfest which was a big swim competition in the bay, it was really good, ... read more

Wow what a day!! After i recovered from my hike to Lombard i took the bus to fishermans wharf but got off at the beach. It is so beautiful and i just know im going to be sad to leave on sunday. I sat with my feet in the warm bay water and it was just lovely. Fishermans wharf reminds me of the opening credits of The Lost Boys, especially at night! It has that kind of vibe. Lets get to it, Alcatraz!! Well i had read reviews about how cold it is on the ferry on the night tours and they aint kidding, i had layered up but i was still shivering!! It felt very surreal being at the prison, especially as i had watched Escape From Alcatraz recently. You take a 45 min audio ... read more

Back at the hotel now recovering from all the hills!! I have a night tour of Alcatraz later so i dont want to be tired for it. I started off in Union sq which is full of shops such as Macys, Gucci, Neiman Marcus etc and also cheaper places like H&M, Forever 21 etc. The shops dont open til 10am so after sitting with my breakfast(a chocolate muffin and a orange juice) I decided id save the shops for tomorrow. Its very hot today, i had just my vest on with a cardi and had to take that off it got too hot(though i had to be ocd with the factor 30!!) So i figured i would walk to Lombard(the crooked street) and go to Colt Tower. Now As you walk through Union you enter Chinatown, ... read more

So I arrived finally at 2am!! I slept most of the flight but i was still so tired!! I was moved to the emergency door row which has LOADS of legroom(a family was there and kids cant sit there) The attendant was like "If you sit here you must help in an emergency" haha I was half dead, I wouldnt have been much use! So my fears were right, my rep was nowhere to be seen!! Luckily i had gotten talking to a couple on their honeymoon from Sheffield and they were staying at the same hotel. So I jumped in there shuttle and paid $17. I went straight to bed when i unpacked knowing i had to be up early for my movietour and to meet the rep in lobby. The rep was lovely and ... read more

Wow that was pretty long and intense! The flight seemed to go on forever, i watched parts of films but I just couldnt get into them as I knew at the end of the flight I would have another long one. The crew were american with the token gay attendant tanned and primped. He was very nice though. There was so much to watch, they had tv shows, films, games, music i was literally spoilt for choice. I listened to a Belle & Sabastian album which i really liked and then watched that new Adam Sandler film with Jen Aniston. It was lame, i shouldve just watched Little Miss Sunshine, i am never dissappinted with that. The flight was ok, got fed and watered very well and I managed to make a good dent in my ... read more
