November / December 2009 ... Another hop to SEA. Started from Singapore and bus to Larkin to swap bus for another one till PuduRaya in Kuala Lumpur and from there after a night's rest, Skybus till the Large Cattle Carrier Terminal (LCCT) (Low Cost Carrier Terminal) for the flight to bustling Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh ! There the atmosphere was hectic ! The streets were packed with people doing shopping on the eve of the coming Eid festival ! Cow markets at every street corner ! Cows here ! Cows there ! Cows everywhere ! Only for this Eid festival (Nov 2009) Bangladesh sacrificed around 2.8 million cows according to the Daily Star, a local newspaper ! People were all in a hurry. In a hurry to reach home, in a hurry to finish their ... read more

Our local airline had huge promotions, nearly 40% off normal rates, thus bringing down return fare to Malaysia / Singaporea to a bit less than 500 USD. So why not take opportunity of this ! And this trip added to my frequent flyer miles brings me a free ticket either to Reunion Island or Madagascar or South Africa ! Now isnt that great ! So I left home on the 9th June at night and flew for 6 1/2 hour to Kuala Lumpur. As always KL is hot but at this time of the year its quite ok, not as damp as usual. No big deal, I stayed in KL doing day trips to PJ and Selangor to visit specific shops. Done the malls also, Mid-Valley, Sungei Wang / Low Yat, Times Square, Pertama Complex, Sogo ... read more

Yes, another trip to BD (6th to 23rd December 08). Started from Dhaka and boat to Barisal on the "Sunderban 7" launch, a mighty river boat with people everywhere from the deck to the roof ! In Barisal this time i stayed in the Athena Hotel, cleaner than the Hotel Ali International and only three minutes walk from the latter ! I went to different villages, first to Bolohar and Boliarkathi, small villages, tranquil and inviting. Then to Borakotha, another village and this time went by boat. To reach there we crossed the Sandha river (Sandha means evening : thanks Mahmud !) and went along a smaller river, the Chotolbari canal ! It was a very nice boat-trip and seeing life along the Chotolbari with people waving and smiling ... ! Just imagine ! Also visited ... read more

One word to describe what i felt is : Wow ! Madagascar got me in my mind and heart. My trip was too short but it was what i could manage, too many responsibilities ! I spent only ten days in Mada but already thinking of another trip there soon. So i started on the 8th June and landed in Tana the same day. Tana is short for Antananarivo, the bustling capital of Madagascar. Weather was quite cool as Tana is around 1300 metres above sea level. I had already booked a room for my first night in a cosy guest house : the Tana-Jacaranda. Tana is amazing with its old cars, 2 CV Citroen, Renault 4L and even antique Peugeot 204 and 403 !!! As Tana is on the heights and there are multiple hills, ... read more

My trip to Bangladesh last December 2007. I landed in Chennai, India first, coming from my country and from there i went to Kolkata. Stayed only a day in each city then i flew to Dhaka on the mythical Biman ! First i had to spend nearly 10 hours in Kolkata airport as the (in)famous Biman announced some hours delay. A second announcement was made and while all passengers was about to say "ouf !", a sweet voice announced once more that we will have a small delay again ! WTF !!! We finally took-off at around 22:30 while the initial departure was scheduled at around 12:30. So i reached Dhaka a bit after midnight and went through immi and customs procedures. Backpack loaded on my shoulders, i made my way out to look for a ... read more
