So glad that you're there and you get to experience this first hand--it's such a shame that things like this happen without us even thinking twice about it...but i do know that you're going to have an amazing summer trying to figure out how you/we as americans fit in and i can't wait to see you when you get back to hear all about your experiences. enjoy your time there and i'm glad this experience is giving you some direction
Thanks Liz Wonderful to "travel" with you en Cristo! PCM students are hoping to travel to Jed/Lima and God's people in Peru next Spring Break 2011. We are on the way to CO to send off Erin and husb Evan to China. I have mentioned travelblog as a possibility for her too. China blocks alot of these kinds of communication tools...Love to you, and thanks for continuing to share...jayne
Thanks, Liz Thanks for sharing this Liz. You are such a wonderful writer - really great and putting us in others' shoes and describing what you see with authenticity, humility, and gratitude. Love you!
a blessing What a wonderful family. It sounds like you are having a great time and have been blessed with the best possible family with whom to spend the summer . I wish this was every family. God is surely providing for you.
Conversation I love to hear you say that conversation is the key. And that listening is the priority. I love seeing you in the picture smiling broadly. What an adventure! And you are so clearly the woman for the job. Love and prayers to you, Lalor
Loving your blogs You are doing a marvelous bit of writing with your blogs. They are so interesting and give all of us who read them a taste of your life in Peru. Thanks so much for sharing. And the pictures---wow! God bless, Shirley
The Market Wow! Working on your sermon-writing I see. lol What did the man with the scales ask about you? Were the strong women all around with you? Did a few know you? Where are you staying ? What type of ministry research are you conducting this time around?
I enjoyed your post about La Red! Sounds like you're doing great things in Lima, which is a city that I love! My blog is looking for travel tips, photos, etc (like maybe how to volunteer with La Red, or Fair Trade organizations!). If you have the time, check it out at dirty-hippies.blogspot.com. Good luck with your work in Lima!
Heather :)
Peruvian Adventure I thought almost running out of gas coming back from Elsmore Lake last night was an exciting adventure . . . you got me beat!!! Glad you're enjoying it!
great to hear from you Hi Liz,
Great to hear from you. I can almost see an image as you write. So descriptive. I think I told you I was going yo Salina, Kansas for my grandson's graduation. I only have driven through your state before. It was neat to spend a little time there. In some ways it reminded me of my home town. Of course it was windy. I thought the KWU campus was quite welcoming. We travel to California for a wedding over the Memorial Holiday. The wedding is in Eisenhower Park in Seal Beach> It will be nice yo be near the ocean.
Arizona is much in the news re: SB 1070. We have not heard too much of what has occured. Either we are not tuned in or it is truly quiet.
Take care dear friend.
Blessinfs and Love

Yes!!!! The Barreras! Good eye, Jan! Of course my host family would have a name with the doble "rr." Maybe I can practice all summer and FINALLY learn to roll my rrrr's. I can't even roll them when I say Grrrrrr. Isn't this house great? It's the perfect place for visitors....hint, hint. : )
Mashed Olives+SuperBlack Coffee Sounds Delicious. Don't hate on olives! Glad to hear that you made it there safely.
psClau is going to have the cleanest Kitchen ever. Have Fun!
C heckin' In So glad you are there and going to do wonderful things for the summer. Thanks for all the visuals . . . now I can picture you sitting on the patio amid the laundry under a white sky with sounds all around you drinking coffee to which you have added lots of stuff to make it palatable and turning your nose up at the mashed olives. I love olives so I think I will mash some up with a little oil and butter and spread them on toast and pretend I'm in Peru with you! Forget the coffee, however! Have wonderful adventures and thanks for letting us live vicariously and virtually through your experiences!
