Clyde the Stride Elizabeth,
I am so glad that your Dad is doing so well. He is tougher(sp) than he looks! Actually, he is now probably enjoying all of the attention that he is receiving from everyone. I saw Beth at your folks house this afternoon watering your Mom's flowers and taking care of the mail for both your parents and June. I am so sorry that you are so far away during this difficult time. When I read your blog, you explained your feelings well and I was so glad that Beth could call you to explain what had happened and relieve some of your worries. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family. Ginny
Prayers Dear Liz, I sure thought a lot about you when we got the news of your dad. It was such a relief to quickly hear good news about his condition. I just know he will be good as new before long. My prayers are for you and all the family as well. Thanks for the blog and the address. I know he will be showered with good wishes. Love, S
Your father O Elizabeth, what a shock. You must be much relieved to hear that he is going to be alright, but not right away. And you can't be there to give him hugs and encouragement up close. How good that we believe in the power of prayer and the good you do him just by bringing him into the light of God's love--as you go about your days in Peru. I join my prayer to yours and trust in the goodness of the One who made your dad to see him through to the other side. Take good care. Love, Lalor
Sorry I have been enjoying your posts and updates on what you are doing. I'm very sorry to hear about your father's stroke. It sounds like the prognosis is good, however. Prayers will continue!
Prayers Going Out to Your Family Elizabeth,
I can only imagine how difficult it must be to be away from home at this time. Your family is certainly in my prayers. It sounds like your father is being well cared for and making good progress. Blessings to all!
Way to Go, Liz! Sounds like a productive afternoon "off" at Starbucks!
I just watched the ABC story about EcoTech School with my family - what a great project. So happy that they were recognized for their work. I hope that something similar can get off the ground here in Peekskill. There are enthusiastic teachers waiting for curriculum there - and hopefully, next year, the skype calls will work!
Be well. -Margery
Extracting and Empowering Liz, simply wonderful work you are doing! Among many other things, you are bringing clarity and vision to complex issues concerning land use and a people's welfare. After your Peru mission, can we send you to the Louisiana coast for a longer internship? Bill
AmazingBlogs What blogs you are entering Liz. You are a gifted writer, touching us at so many levels. All of these should certainly be published---and your pictures, great! I'm honored to know you. Love and Prayers, Shirley
Liz,
Beautiful post with such truth about your family and the world around you in Peru.
"If I had to name one thing that my parents have taught me, it's about love and loyalty, especially for family." And I want to quote the whole last paragraph too.
Your gifts lie in love and loyalty for those who you surround yourself with. Thanks for sharing.
Buses Thanks for the great updates Liz! I too was facinated by the bus system when in Cuernavaca...they don't have the clip board guys or cobradores here in Nuevo Laredo. Take care!
More bravos for you! I am so touched by the way you care for these dear people and this important work. I surely will try to be here June 26 for the ABC special, to hear the voices of the children. Didn't Jesus point to them as the ones to follow if we wanted to find the way?
unjust and irresponsible Based on the information in your report, I think Renco is irresponsible and greedy. They are irresponsible because they created a very successful business for themselves and the Peruvians, but they are not cleaning up the contaminated land and water in the area. They are irresponsible and greedy because they shut down the financially successful plant without sharing the profits with the now-unemployed Peruvians. They have unjustly punished the Peruvian workers who have fallen victims to their decision to not only close the plant, but also keep the profits for themselves and neglect cleaning up their polluted waste materials.
