Glad that you are home Hey Lisa, I am glad that your trip was great, and I hope that you have no regrets about coming home earlier than anticipated. I went up to Cornvalley last weekend, and you were greatly missed. I can't wait to see you and hope that your jet lag will soon be gone. Enjoy your family, and I will hopefully see you soon.
Sam
Welcome Home Hi Lisa. I'm so glad you are back home. I hope we can see you soon. It was fun reading about your experiences in New Zealand. Isn't our weather just lovely right now?
Love, Ann
you are really going home Hey Lisa! Can't believe that you are really leaving NZ so early. I guess you have seen now everything what is to see, right? Hope you enjoyed your secound round through the country with your aunt - sounds all very cool!
Miss my drinking buddy! Isabel - still in OZ
Yup - love those sheep I'm in beautiful LA - raining - and as I wait for my connection, wanted to confirm that indeed, the sheep in the road was indeed a high-light of the trip! The sheep in the road alone were a treat - in this case, people and dogs were at work to corral them off the road - great to see sheep dogs at work - very excited and happy to do their job and do it well...we should all have the work enthusiasm of a sheep dog!!! Other highlights: the Kepler track (except the sand flies), the hike to Lake Miriam, the hike to the top of Rocky Mountain, the view on the Coromandel Peninsula, the drive from Queenstown to Glenarchy, Mt. Cook and our hermitage at the Hermitage, excellent soy lattes, delicious fish n' chips, and much more... As well, travel with Lisa - we laughed a whole lot - a WHOLE LOT - ...if she tells any stories about how weird I am, well, I won't admit or deny (and I have a few to tell...so never mind) I am glad to be back in the land of "thanks" and "you're welcome" again. If you're wondering about this one...ask Lisa! Cheers! And - Lisa - WELCOM HOME (when you get here).
coming home! Lisa you are totally the bomb. Seriously, I'm so glad that you documented your journeys with the travel blog. I lived vicariously through you the whole way. I'm excited that you're coming home. Maybe sometime we can go out to coffee and you can tell me more face to face. Sounds like a good plan. What about a memorial day weekend beach experience? Sounds like a good time to me. Take care... Can't wait to see you and hear more about your adventures.
What the heck is Gorp? Am I the only person who doesn't know what gorp is? I'm glad you enjoyed your first backpacking experience. When you come home you and I should go do a hike to 3 finger jack and climb it...it's really fun!
Hi! Dad and were wondering when you would finish the hike. Sounds like it was a good experience except for the sandflies and someone taking your boots! Give us a call when you get a chance.
Love, Mom
Hi Lisa and Janet Hi you guys. Sounds like you are having a blast. Wish I was there! All is fine here in Oregon--it's really cold out, but clear and sunny!!! Keep having great travels. Love, Ann

Hi! Hey glad the weather has cleared. Not sure if you go the last comment I wrote so I'll try again. The Becks, Dad and I hiked to Hawk Creek yesterday on a sunny day. Fun and Yum! The Oregon mist arrived today for awhile and the lastest report is possible snow in the valley. I be busy working on my class assignments and Dad getting our business started. Wish I was hiking with you! Love, Mom

Hi! Lisa,
Hope you and Janet continue to have a great time in NZ. We miss you and are looking forward to seeing you next month. Franky and Jackson are doing well and are looking forward to seeing you soon.
Love, Ann
Another thing that my dad is irrational about... Lou, I read your blog with my parents tonight and we all had a good laugh at your "vomity" sickness comments. Anyway, this afternoon we were watching a show about the ocean and my dad went off about how much he hated sealions and how they were nothing but a "fat nuisance." I thought this was hilarious because sealions have nothing to do with anything in his life, yet he hates them with a passion...add that to the bagpipes and book club questions, you have one irrationally angry man.
GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU LISA......SOUNDS LIKE YOU AND JANET ARE HAVING A GREAT TIME AND ENJOYING MORE BEAUTIFUL-SCENIC SIGHTS....I HEAR YOU ARE GOING TO DO SOME HIKING...SOUNDS GREAT ...ALL IS WELL HERE...SUPER BOWL TIME TOMORROW! PAPA'S EYES WILL BE GLUED TO THE TV ALONG WITH MILLIONS OF OTHER SPORTS ENTHUSIASTS! SEATTLE SEAHAWKS AND PITTSBURG STEALERS ARE PLAYING....BY FOR NOW...LOVE YOU, NANA
Looking forward to seeing you soon Lisa, You have done what you wanted to do and can feel proud of your efforts. Just spoke with a client of mine who went to NZ for a year in October and is feeling about the same as you. His name is Fris Pendleton. Not sure if you have run into him or not, but I guess he is finding the NZers not as friendly as anticipated. At any rate, we look forward to seeing you in a few months, Take care, Kathy
Happy New Year Lisa!! Hi Lisa. Happy New Year! Jackson and I stayed at your parent's home last weekend. We had fun. Jack played in a tennis tournament at Salishan. Lost his first match and was very upset, but returned to win consolation. He had a great time in Tucson at the National tournament as the weather was much nice than here--70-75 degrees. It's been raining here for weeks! I hate it so much. Glad you are coming home. Have fun traveling w/Janet and enjoy the sun. Looking forward to seeing you and hearing about your travels when you get back. Love, Ann
There's no place like home Hey! I know you've had a great experience yet are ready to come home. Take in all you can the next month and enjoy your travels with Janet.
Love ya lots, Mom
Tangerines I thought of you every time I ate a tangerine. We had a lot left over because you weren't here and so I think of you often. Hope you are having a good time
G-Pa
I reqalize you haven't been here for Christmas because we have a surplus of tangerines. I think of you every time I take another one. Eveerybody missed you for Xmas. Hope you are having a good time down in Quiwi land. It is so beautiful there. Happy new year! G Paw and G Ma
Merry Christmas Lisa, Merry Christmas! Once again we missed you at our family gathering on Christmas Day. It was good to see Brian, Tara and kids as well as your parents and brother. We had a fabulous dinner--a huge turkey and lots of mashed potatoes and dressing. I made 1 and 1/2 green bean dishes so that people (like your brother) could have seconds. The weather was bad as it has been warm, rainy and dark every day for the past 2 weeks (well, almost). Enjoy the sun. I am actually relieved that Christmas is over and we can get back to normalcy. The commericalism is so crazy here during the holidays that it gets to be too much.
I watched an interesting movie last night that I have wanted to see--Bowling for Columbine. I know that this isn't your typical Christmas movie, but I was in the mood to see/learn something about society in the U.S. What's it like there? Are things really different? Sounds like you are having a great time and enjoying your place of work. Its fun to hear from you.
The boys are doing well. Jackson is going to Tucson on Friday for a National Tennis tournament with 3 other players and coach from the club. I would like to go with him, but have to work.
Love, Ann
Merry Christmas from the Elgins Your Mum gave me your blog number and I have been following your journey. I still can't believe you are on your own and doing this!!! Very independent and grown up! I am not sure I would have been able to do it!!! I am envious of your travels. One of these days we will have to get to New Zealand. I was in Australia in the end of January once and it is odd to have such warm weatherat that time of year!! I hope you enjoy the warm oceans!!!
Have a hapy New Year and enjoy the rest of your stay.

Having no idea of what I wanted to do after graduating I decided to head out and see the world, or a least another part of it. I started this blog mainly to keep my friends and family updated on what I am up to while I’m away. I’ll try to write as often as I can and I hope you all enjoy.
I have always been interested in the world around me. Both natural and manmade features never cease to amaze me, and I find cultures fascinating. When I began college at Oregon State University in the fall of 2001 I had already been to Mexico, Italy, France, most of the western United States (including Ha... full info
