| 16th October 2008 anonymous | - From: Miyako, Japan Gorgeous bluffs - were there any nesting seabirds? We saw lots of tsunami warning signs along the Oregon coast, too. Scary! Seaweed is definitely an acquired taste -- if you keep eating it, you'll eventually like it, I think? |
| 16th October 2008 Irene Brodie | Great pix - From: Miyako, Japan Sounds like you had another really great day (other than not enough time to shop in the Amber Museum store). Loved seeing the train....looks like something from the 1900's. |
| 14th October 2008 Naomi B | Naaahce pics - From: Miyako, Japan Loved the sunset shot, Linda! I'm so enjoying YOUR trip! Thanks and hugs, N |

| 4th October 2008 Marc | - From: Victoria, BC-Buchart Gardens Loved the mud maggots! (seals) Vancouver's botanical garden looks outstanding. Amazing autumn colors! The space needle pic was really cool, too! |
| 4th October 2008 Marc & Eliana | - From: Water...water.....everywhere! Hahaha, funny to see I got an honorary mention in the blog! Losing an hour is something, but losing a day???? Maybe you crossed into the Twilight Zone. I'm curious to see your GPS track. Save them as a .kml file, and you can plot them on Google Earth! |
| 3rd October 2008 Irene Brodie | relaxing - From: Water...water.....everywhere! It takes at least a week to decompress and learn to move slower, which is why I now try to take 2 week vacations. One week just isn't enough although, after two weeks I'm wondering IF I could be homeless and happy. Maybe....maybe, if we still have retirement accounts when we retire, we could take a looooong cruise. I like the thought. In the meantime, I will thoroughly enjoy hearing about your looooooooong trip. |
| 29th September 2008 LinDave | Patience...... - From: Water...water.....everywhere! is a virtue my dear. Good things come to those who wait! |
| 28th September 2008 Naomi B | It's about time.... - From: Water...water.....everywhere! Today, I got 3 posts from you encompassing 9/19-27. This is worse than slow mail!!! Advice to Dave: Relax, enjoy, learn to sit still. This is advice given to me because, like you, I have a really tough time of it. But, I try and find out life is just as good at half speed as it is at slow speed, and it is, indeed, without angst. [I should talk: I'm suffering through a 4-hr. online safe driver course for the speeding ticket I got in NH!!!] Continue to enjoy and smell the sea air. Hugs, N |
| 28th September 2008 Cane | Very nice Flowers! - From: Victoria, BC-Buchart Gardens Very beautiful flowers and cool night picture of a UFO! ~CaneDNR |

| 19th September 2008 Marc & Eliana | Wind Farm Management - From: North Dakota to the Rockies! I've always wanted some fresh homegrown wind from a wind farm! |
| 19th September 2008 Naomi B | Duh! - From: North Dakota to the Rockies! Why do you think they call 'em the "Great PLAINS?!!!" Can't imagine a winter there. Brrrr. And, congrats on "winning" ND -- how come I just got notice of your 9/15 post today...9/18?!! Keep 'em coming. |
| 14th September 2008 Naomi B | Aomori - From: New port added! ....sounds romantic....probably in Japanese it means "outhouse" or "pig slop" or something of the sort! |
| 13th September 2008 LinDave | Give it up...you'll never catch us! - From: Movin' north. LOL! We hope to really load up on countries on this trip. Now, all I need to know is...umm....is this Blackfish? It would be good to know so we torture the right person when we get back! |
| 13th September 2008 Irene | - From: Movin' north. It'll be interesting to see if they can add a port. That happened to us on the Panama Canal cruise, a couple weeks before leaving they actually added a port in Huatulco, Mexico. Eight days at sea would be long, considering most cruises are only 7 - 10 days!!! I'm just so happy you got ahead of the storm. |
| 13th September 2008 Heather | - From: Movin' north. Most likely the State Department posted an advisory about travel to Russia given the recent events in Georgia, and the cruise line decided to be cautious. Still, 8 days at sea is a lot, especially where you are crossing. I found out about your blog from Marc and Eliana's "Not All Who Wander Are Lost" blog. I think both of these trips are fabulous adventures and I hope you enjoy the cruise. I thought I might catch up to you in number of countries cached in, but I think this puts it out of range for me! Have a great time and find lots of caches ) |
| 12th September 2008 LinDave | - From: Movin' north. I just wish that they would give us another port; so far we are only getting another "sea day". It was already 6 days at sea to get there from Seattle. Will it be 8 days to Japan? That's a tad long at sea without getting off! So much for our shore excursion with the ATV trip to a nearby volcano! |
| 11th September 2008 Marc & Eliana | Cache away! - From: Movin' north. Caching on the road is always a good way to break up a long drive. Especially a long flat state like Florida! Cache on! |
| 11th September 2008 Naomi B | Dontcha hate when that happens? - From: Movin' north. How can they change the itinerrary at this late date? Grrrr! |
| 11th September 2008 LinDave | Seattle - From: We are outta here! We get in on the 16th (Tues.) and the cruise leaves in the afternoon on the 19th (Fri.) We plan to be at the dock by around Noon. Only things we have planned is a musical (Phantom of the Opera) on thurs nite and one day we want to go to Victoria. You guys can't be the only ones to get to western Canada! |
| 11th September 2008 LinDave | Oops! - From: We are outta here! Hee hee, yeah well you wouldn't have fit in there with all the others that asked! Sorry! You live vicariously thru me and I'll live thru you girlie! Give that hub of yours a hug from me! |
| 11th September 2008 LinDave | "Bendy" windows! - From: We are outta here! Hi N, yep they will do that. It's when the building sways that freaks me out! |
| 11th September 2008 LinDave | Sunpass - From: Thanks a lot Ike! Thanks Tony, it's called a Sunpass and we brought it with us to use! |
| 10th September 2008 Marc & Eliana | Let the good times roll! - From: We are outta here! Woo-hooo! The journey begins! When will you guys be in Seattle? I just contacted TedCool about getting together. Aside from the Project APE cache, there is also Groundspeak Headquarters there! We got invited for a tour there -- will you be in town on a Friday by any chance? |
| 9th September 2008 Queenie | Wait wait - From: We are outta here! Come back!! You forgot to let me hide in your suitcase!!!! Darn it all. Well, you just better blog about it every day then. *sigh* |
| 9th September 2008 Naomi B | Who hoo! - From: We are outta here! We got back Sat. nite and, today, the wind is blowing so hard, the windows are "bending." We should've stayed in Maine and you were smart to get going. Safe travels! Hugs, N |
| 9th September 2008 Tony | Safe Travels - From: Thanks a lot Ike! Just make sure you travel safe, and if you take the turn pike make sure to stop by a Publix and pick up a Speed Pass I think its called I may be wrong but its the thing that automatically pays for tolls from a credit card. Plus it saves you money. I thought I would pass along a cool site that I came across its called www.baraaza.com Its a cool site for travelers or people that know a lot about a certain area, its a good site to interact with other people. Check it out and tell me what you think. Thanks and travel safe. Tony |
| 5th September 2008 Naomi B | As long... - From: Thanks a lot Ike! ...as you get to where you have to get safely, the means matters not! Safe travels...we return tomorrow. Hugs, N&M |
| 5th September 2008 LinDave | Have GPS; will travel! - From: Thanks a lot Ike! We will take our time with the drive as we don't need to be there until the 13th. Since we've driven this route many, many times we have gotten caches in all those states. Doesn't mean that we won't get any more though! We'll also drive up to Wisconsin and nab that one too! This is nothing compared to your 10,000+ mile drive you guys! Read about them here: http://www.marcandeliana.com/ |
| 5th September 2008 Marc | wow 1500 miles! - From: Thanks a lot Ike! How long will you take to drive the 1500 miles? Have a safe drive, and get your GPS ready hehehe |
| 5th September 2008 Marc | Stay safe - From: 1 Hurricane, 2 Hurricane, 3 Hurricane...ARRGH! Watch out for those pesky storms, guys! If you drive, you can pick up a cache in each state you pass through :) |
| 3rd September 2008 LinDave | APE cache - From: Things to do in Seattle Thanks for clarifying that! I was def looking at the wrong cache! We will seriously be looking at doing this one! |
| 2nd September 2008 jennifer Lemmond | - From: Things to do in Seattle Project APE is one of only two remaining caches that was placed as a tie in to the Planet of the Apes movie from a few years ago. The number is GC1169. It is generally regarded as part of the Geocaching trifecta--original cache, groundspeak HQ and APE cache. And it is most definitely NOT a micro:) |
| 2nd September 2008 LinDave | - From: Things to do in Seattle Hi Jenn! What is the deal with the APE cache? I'ts a micro and a 1 1/2 star? |
| 2nd September 2008 blackfishorca (Jenn) | - From: Things to do in Seattle you should try for the APE cache. The area was still snowed in when I was there. I think it is about a hour east of Seattle. BTW--I am insanely jealous of you guys! Have a great time! |
| 2nd September 2008 LinDave | Got 'em! - From: The packing dilemma! Yep, I have them already! |
| 2nd September 2008 LinDave | Seattle 16-19th - From: Things to do in Seattle Cool! We can have a 5 person caching event! |
| 1st September 2008 Marc & Eliana | Packing Cubes - From: The packing dilemma! You guys should look into Eagle Creek packing cubes. We packed and organized all of our clothing for our trip into these packing units and it's great! Super compact, oragnized, and efficient! Glad we didn't pack one ounce of formal wear for our adventure :) |
| 1st September 2008 Marc & Eliana | Seattle when? - From: Things to do in Seattle When will you guys be in Seattle? We'll be arriving there around Sept. 11 or 12. Maybe see you there for a few caches? We can get together with Tedcool and have a SoFlo cacher reunion! |
| 31st August 2008 LinDave | Waiting... - From: A monkey wrench may be flung.... We are doing just that but the dang tracks are so close to the shoreline up to New Orleans it worries us. |
| 31st August 2008 LinDave | Suitcase stowaway! - From: Things to do in Seattle Yep, if you think you can sqish yourself in with everyone else in there!!!! |
| 31st August 2008 Queenie | Patience - From: A monkey wrench may be flung.... I think the key will be to wait a couple of days to see exactly what is happening with the storm. I hate to think this monster is going to hit New Orleans again but....Let's just keep our fingers crossed. |
| 29th August 2008 Queenie | Woohooo - From: Things to do in Seattle I am so excited for you guys!!!! And I also wish I could stow away in your suitcase. Heh. Another couple of friends about to embark on a whole lot of fun. Wooooot. |
