I am now in Rome visiting the sites with the parents.

I have decided to simply upload my pictures to Google Picasa for everyone to see. I have uploaded a ton while here in Rome so check them out.

Perth, Western Australia Perth is the Western most city in Australia and one of the most remote cities in the world. There are about 2 million people in the city on the western coast. I visited the city for a day and then headed to the coast. From Perth I booked a tour to head north up the west coast. During this trip I got to see 1500 kilometers of the rugged country that makes up Australia. We sand boarded down huge dunes, hiked several canyons and gorges, did some incredible snorkeling and on Easter Sunday I fed a dolphin at Monkey Mia. The dolphins have been coming up to the beach at Monkey Mia for many years now. They will come right up to the edge of the water and if you are lucky enough ... read more

After Sydney, I flew up the Northeast coast to Cairns. This is the main jump of spot for the diving on the Great Barrier Reef. I signed up for a 5 day dive trip to the Great Barrier Reef and some outer reefs. During this trip I saw all kinds of beautiful coral, giant clams the size of a large barrel, tons of fish, eels, turtles and sharks. Grouper between 300 and 400 lbs and the sharks ranged from 1 to 3 meters. Large enough to be quite intimidating, especially during the shark feeding we witnessed. Just check out the pictures to see what I mean. I then had a few days to burn before I headed down south with some friends I met to dive a famous wreck, the Yongala. I rented a car and ... read more

My first stop in Australia was Sydney. After camping in New Zealand for the last few months, it was nice to visit this beautiful city. I spent most of my time visiting the city on a bike from Mike Herrmann’s company, Bonza Bikes. Thanks Mark and Mike! This was a great way to see most of the city in the 5 days I was there. I biked to all the typical attractions like the harbor bridge, Orchestra House, Bonzi Beach and took a ferry over to Manly beach. I also spent several fun (and expensive) nights hitting the town. I know it has been a while since my last update, but somehow it has been difficult to sit down and devote time to be on the computer. My last few weeks in New Zealand have consisted of visiting the wineries on the South Island, kayaking and flying in a helicopter around Milford Sound, meeting up with friends in Christchurch, caving, bouldering, and learning to roll a white water Kayak. After heading out from Wanaka, I headed down to Queenstown. This is the capital of extreme sports in New Zealand and there are plenty of tour operations ready get your adrenaline pumping. The city is very nice but way too touristy for my likes. I spent a day just checking out the city and headed west to the wine country on a rainy day. I visited ... read more

2-14-09 The last update I sent was from Raglan, New Zealand. This small and friendly place kept me a few more days than I expected. I camped at a great campsite that was a 5 min walk over the inlet via a walking bridge. It dumped you right in town. I spent the next couple of days kite boarding and hanging out enjoying the town. Check out the sunset from my camp in the pictures. I meet several nice Kiwi’s(New Zealander’s) and got an offer to visit them in Mt Taranaki. It was a bit off my path and I had been taking longer than expected on the Northland so instead I headed directly south to the Watimo Watimo is know for having over 300 caves and most of them have rivers running through them. I ... read more

All is great in New Zealand. The weather has been perfect and the county amazing. I bought a small van and have been travelling around the Northland. Tons of beaches, harbors and rolling hills. It is quite tropical and most of the water is very clear, but a bit chilly. There are hostels and campsites everywhere. My van has a bed and everything I need in it. All of the sites have kitchens, showers, etc. The last site I was at even had a wood fired hot tube that we relaxed in after a day of hiking and snorkeling. Next is the Southland, where The Lord of the Rings was filmed. It is even more incredible from what I have heard. I am currently in Raglan. It is a laid back surf town that I have ... read more

I was a bit fanatical about packing light and spent a good time researching exactly what I should take. When it was all said and done I took off with one medium size backpack that weighed about 25 pounds. This is a quick list of the items in my pack.... read more
