After a quick three hour bus ride from Vienna, we arrived in Budapest and proceeded to find our way to our next host. We had struggled to find anywhere to stay in Budapest but at the last minute, Moni, fom Couchsurfing, came to our rescue and offered us a couch and a very comfy beanbag for a couple of nights. The first night a few of her friends came around and they cooked us some delicious Hungarian food accomponied by a couple of shots of Palinka ( a traditional Hungarian Spirit) which had been made by her mother. After a good sleep in the next morning we headed out for a wander around Budapest to find a Langos and Catch up with Janos, a friend of Erics. Budapest is really very stunning. Last Sunday we arrived at the first of the many Wwwoofing places we will be staying at on our way back to N.Z. Our first hosts, Brigitte and Kurt, have been really lovely and we felt at home straight away. Technically we are still in Vienna but are situated in a beautiful forested valley, where we even get the occasional deer or colorful bird outside our bedroom window to wake us up before we start our chores. Unfortunately there hasn´t been much to do. Unlike New Zealand where the summer doesn't want to end the European winter has been very selfish, teasing us with a warm 17 degrees one day and then dropping back to -3, with snow, the next day. On the two days without snow we managed to get in the garden to chop ... read more

Arriving in Vienna was a bit confusing, we expected to see beautiful old palaces but instead felt as though we had arrived in Dubai with lots of very modern, large office buildings surrounding us. We were to be staying for the first three days, couchsurfing, in "Donau City" right next to the Vienna conference center and the United Nations. We met our first Couchsurfing host, Hartwig, Who is a very friendly Austrian that practices Buddhism and he was going to be flying to India that Saturday for Buddhism training. So far we have visited Stephansdom, Hofburg and numerous beautiful gardens. Yesterday we visted the Hundertwasser House which look... read more

We have made it to the Czech Republic! Just a quick 4.5 hour bus ride to get to the Beautiful city of Prague. Unfortunately we have spent most of our time here in Bed (thankfully the hostels here are amazing!) Izzy and I made it out this morning to get a few snaps of the city and to see the castle, which is apparently the biggest acient castle in the world and the first parts of it were built as early as during the 9th centuary. It is used now for the Kings of Bohemia, Holy Roman Emperors and the offices of the presidents of Czechoslavakia. We also managed to catch up with Jule, a friend of Erics from berlin who is studying medicine in Prague. Here are some pics. Tomorrow we are onto Vienna!!!! Love ... read more
