I'm a young traveler, I've been to Germany and Austria on a school exchange program, and go on "adventure drives" with my friend every so often where we get on the high way and just keep driving until we find a place we'd like to stop.

I've always liked the idea of just getting in the car and driving until I find a spot to stop and just explore that area. So that's what I did and my friend was kind enough to accompany me. Now the problem with living in Texas is that sometimes you run into a dry spots, there is nothing around, and it can get rather boring.....that's what happened to us :) oh well! So my friend, Ashlee, and I hopped in my car one early Sunday morning, stopped by Wally World (Wal-Mart) sntached up two disposable cameras (hence why the quality is bad, I couldn't find my digital camera....ooops!)and we headed to the high way. We passed through a few small places that we'd never heard of such as Duncanville and somehow we ended up in South ... read more

Transportation There are five major ways of traveling throughout Germany and Austria. You can choose to travel by bike, train, U-Bahn, S-Bahn, or walking. Bikes This is generally used by teenagers and younger kids trying to get from one place to another. If you’re looking to just brows the city then a bike is a great way to travel. You can usually rent these by the hour or day. Be sure to get a bike lock if you are not given one when you rent your bike. Do not worry about traveling with your bike, many people take their bikes on the trains and buses if they need to get to a farther destination. Train This is the most common method to travel great distances that can’t be reached on a bike or by using the ... read more

Neuschwanstein Take a trip to the fairy tale castle known as Neuschwanstein. Neuschwanstein (New Swan Rock) was opened up to the public 7 weeks after King Ludwig II passed away in 1886. Over 1.3 million people visit the castle every year. Take a bus ride or hike up to see this beautiful castle. I recommend the hike however if you are willing to take a bit of time (say 30-40 minutes) out of your day to see the beautiful scenery and enjoy the weather. Tourist Information* •Tickets to the castle can only be bought at Ticketcenter Hohenschwangau. This is before you arrive at the castle) •If you are traveling with somebody disabled every Wednesday there is a special guided tour for people in wheelchairs or who use walkers. •No smoking, photographing or filming is allowed inside ... read more

I took part in a month long exchange program in the Summer of 2009. I thought someone might find it interesting to read about the places we went within one month along with a picture and a little bit of information about the location. Our first stop was in Munich, Germany aka München, Deutschland. BMW World (BMW Welt) Everybody is familiar with the BMW car. However not everyone gets to visit the main plant in Munich. Hop on the U-Bahn and walk for a few minutes and you can find yourself in one of the most interesting tour sites you’ve ever experienced. The BMW Tour is great for car fanatics and others. There are 7 exhibits within the building and no matter if you’re interested in the design of the car, the company, motorcycles, technology, motor ... read more

Howdy! If you're planning on being in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area I highly suggest you go to the Stockyards in Fort Worth to get a real Texas (aka Tejas) experience. I was previously in Fort Worth, I had an exchange student arrive from Germany and I wanted to show her around. There was actually a group of us with exchange students and we all piled onto a bus and decided to go to the Stockyards. Eating While there I noticed many people dressed up with cowboy outfits, Steak Houses (I reccomend a place called Risky's Steakhouse*), even a Stock Yard Hotel! There food here is actually pretty good**, I enjoy ribs but I enjoy steak more, so naturally that's what I requested. It was amazing! Definetly worth trying! ** If I may offer a tip, when ... read more
