Day 12 - The End. Well Internet was spotty in the next couple of hotels, then non-existent on the cruise, but now we are back in Athens and have contact with the mothership once again. Well there is way to much to tell to give a detailed account, but I will give a breif summary of each of the last several days. So on day 12 we visited the anciet Delphi site. it is know for the Oracle of Delphi that people 2500 years ago would travel long distances to come and get guidance from. It was a very impressive site. After our morning visit we traveled to past the Corinth canal, where I successfully launched a rock into, then on to a little city of Nafpilo for afternoon freetime, and then on to our hotel ... read more

Day 11 Today was mostly a transfer day. We left the kalampaka region and drove to Delphi. We checked into our hotel and then took a short side trip to a costal city called Galaxidi which is just a short drive away. We ate lunch then swam in the very salty Corinth sea. It was a very nice break. Tomorrow we head to the ruins of Delphi in the cool of the morning then we head south. Greece is very nice it is just spread out with a lack of freeways so it takes a while to get anywhere. However for a geography geek like me today's drive over three mountain passes was awesome. Most of the bus slept through it. Well here are the long awaited photos. I had to figure out a way to ... read more

Day 8 Finally, Luggage!!!! it took many calls to the airports (Milan, Rome, Naples) but we took a detour today and finally got my suitcase. Oh the joy. Now I have all chargers and adaptors and I will upload a bunch of photos ASAP. (most likely tomorrow) Anyway, today we left Rome and headed south. We took a detour to the Naples Airport and retreived my suitcase. We then continued on to the great city of Pompeii. We had a very engaging tour guide, Marco, that taught as all about the ruins and the life of people in Pompeii at the time it was buried. I really enjoyed seeing this sight again and I think all the students had a nice time. We then drove to the coast city of Sorrento and enjoyed some free time ... read more

Days 5 WOW, what a trip. Still no luggage for me. The have it in the country but it is a pain getting it from the airports and they are not very helpful. I hope to get it before we leave to Greece. Anyway, I will get you up to date. The second day in florence was amazing. Several in our group went straight to Florence (we were staying about 35 minutes outside of the city) while the rest of us went to pisa. The morning group that went straight to the city mostly consisted of the art history students that wanted to maximize their museum time. They did great, making it to several of the smaller museums as well as climbed the dome in the cathedral and met back up with the group to go ... read more

Greetings from Europe. So far there are two things that we have been without. Internet, and luggage. Alexa and I have been missing our luggage that never showed up in Italy. Alexa should get hers in the morning and mine is still Missing In Action. But life goes on and it will show up eventually. So with that said, on with the details. Day 1-2 So our journey begins. All things considered our flights went very well. We did get stuck at the gate in New York for a about an extra hour with minor mechanical problems before we could depart, but finally off we went and almost everyone slept very well on the flight. We arrived in Milan and soon discovered that my suitcase as well as Alexa's was left in New York and we ... read more

Day 11 Today will be a quick update and then I will try and add photos tonight. Today we left Nice early in the morning and drove to a little coastal town called Cassis. It is a charming little town that is know for these rocky inlets along the coast. We had a great time wandering the city and checking out the great little shops and restaurants. The highlight was a nice boat ride out to the Calanques, the rocky inlets. The best way to describe it is Lake Powell, just white cliffs with pine trees. Each little inlet is a twisting canyon with the clearest water you have ever seen. It was an awesome little boat tour. We stayed in Cassis a bit longer than planned because we enjoyed it so much, then continued on ... read more

Day 9 Today was one awesome day. It was one of the things I was looking forward to the most. The day started with a short bus ride to the train station. We took the train through all of the 5 cities on the Cinque Terra getting a short glimpse at all of them as we passed through. The 5 cities are on a coast line that stretches kinda south east to north west, the locals just call it east and west. So we started in the city on the east side., All the cites are built into the cliffs and ravines along the coast. We visited 4 of the 5 cities and it was amazing. We started in Riomaggiore and then walked the "pathway of love" over to Manarola. It was a very nice short ... read more

Day 7 Today was a full day in Florence. We arrived in the city from our hotel at about 10:00 and went directly to the cathedral. Most of the group climbed up the dome of the cathedral. it is quite a hike with well over 400 steps. The students did it slightly faster than the adults. Once at the top we were rewarded with a beautiful view on a very clear day of the entire city of Florence. After our first few days of overcast weather we have had nothing but sun the last few days. After our cathedral climb, we went into the Uffizi art gallery. It is one of the most visited places in Florence and one of the best art museums in the world. It was very crowded and even though we had ... read more

Day 4 Today was a transfer day from the Como region to Venice. It was a bit of a drive but not bad at all. Mostly because it was broken up with a lengthy stop in Verona. Verona is a beautiful city in the southern foothills of the Alps. It is actually the 4th most visited city in Italy, mostly know as the setting of Romeo and Juliette. There is even a fictional courtyard with balcony and a statue of Juliette. Everyone that comes to the city visits the courtyard and it is a packed mess, but hey you have to do it. Our guide Vania led us on a short walking tour of Verona then we had a couple of hours for lunch and exploring. Many of the students visited the ancient Roman coliseum, explored ... read more
