I have always enjoyed travel thanks to childhood experiences provided by my father's love of seeing new places. I have recently freed myself of a job and now plan to travel for the next 3 months.

I went to Jackson Hole WY to go snowboarding for a week with some good friends. Jimmy and I went to UofR together, Brian and I played Ultimate Frisbee together and Brian's brother Mark who I make fun of. This was the same group that went to Tahoe last year but the travel was a bit more complex. Jimmy and I live in NJ so we went together and met Mark at the airport (he live in Florida) The next day we picked up Brian who flew in from the Netherlands. In the meantime we got a full day of riding in except for a 2 hour break so I could get stitches put in my chin. I had stopped on the mountain for a break and to wait for Jimmy and Mark. As Mark approached ... read more

Hey all Sorry but Hawaii has been too nice to spend time inside on the internet. It has been a really great week of family time, beach time, Kayaking, Whale watching, Boogie Boarding and of course eating. I have made it to the beach with Elia (my niece) almost every morning right around sunrise. This morning my parents made it as well. We are staying 1 block from a beautiful beach that is 2 miles long and curves gently to make a nice cove. It is on the Windward (eastern) side of the island so the waves are small but there is a constant breeze, (constant except for yesterday when we had windsurfing lessons scheduled). As I mentioned we saw Whales And went Boogie Boarding OK that’s not me but it felt like I was on ... read more

Today I must sadly say goodbye to Europe. It has been a wonderful month and I have been so fortunate to reconnect with so many great friends, all of whom are welcome to visit anytime in the states. Thank you to everyone back home who kept in touch with me during this trip (even those who just commented on my fashion sense;-) ) Ciao... read more

I arrived in Paris after a good nights sleep on the "TrenHotel" from Madrid. I left my backpack in a locker and headed out to see Paris. I walked along the Seine wandered through Notre Dame (I was waiting to go up in the towers, however they hadn't opened for the day by 10:20 and should have been open at 10 so I left) I saw the town hall with a nice "PARIS2012" sign for the Olympics. They had signs all over town creating excitment about the games possibly coming to town "J'aime les Joux" which I was told means "I Love the Games" not "I Love the Jews" I next found the Louvre. I am not much of a museum lover but this place is incredible. It is huge and has great art from allover ... read more

I made it to Madrid Friday night, in time for a late dinner with Sole and her "hermanos". We spent Saturday around madrid, and headed to Lisbon Sunday AM. Lisbon is a very nice city with a town feel, very few tall buildings etc. Sunday night was the Superbowl and the HardRock cafe was showing the game. It was a good game, but I did miss seeing all the newest commercials. They had one very funny one for the Megane, it is a car with a protruding backend, so they showed clips of the car and peoples but while playing "shaking that ass" (I think they could do a second commercial using a certain favorite ballad of Sir Mixalot) The last day we spent in glorious sun on the coast, and even reached the western most ... read more

OK sorry to have been away from the blog for so long, it has been a week full of travel. I left Florence for Pisa then a Night train to Nice, France. It was a terrible choice the train was packed they had 6 people per room ont he train in chairs (3 facing 3) trying to sleep, it was super hot and people had their legs all tied together, I stayed in the hallway until 5:30am then found a cabin that had 3 empty seats I could sleep across. Nice was nice heeehehee I spent the day in the sun by the beach and then went to the trainstation to figure out how to get to and from Chamonix, where I planned to Snowboard. It was impossible to get there and back in a reasonable ... read more

Firenze, for all the Italians out there, is a great city. I am here just for the day, I will leave for Pisa just after midnight and then catch a night train to Nice, France around 3am. BTW they won't let me have a bed so I will have to sleep sitting up, argh!! I wandered around the city, sat in a piaza for lunch enjoying the warmth of the sun. I had brought snow with me from Austria to Munich and on to Rome, so it was nice to be somewhere a little warm. I climbed to the top of the Duomo, 463 steps, but worth it. You can see the whole city from there and the snow covered mountains to the east look inviting. there were lots of little windows that offered previews of ... read more

Well actually I spent much of in Rocca di Papa (castle on the hill of the pope) with my friend Nadja. I stayed with her aunt and uncle who were great hosts. They have two cute daughters and one more coming in 2 weeks. We went to Rome on Sunday and saw many of the sights including the Sistine Chapel, which I had missed last vist. It was amazing, although I didnt take pictures of the ceiling (prohibited) but it seemed like everyone else was. We wandered around and ate and wandered and ate some more, life is pretty tough. It is amazing how many ancient buildings are still standing in Rome. I went to Florence on Monday, there is a blog coming and I also added photos to my Zermatt blog if you are interested. ... read more

I am in Zermatt to snowboard the matterhorn, unfortunately it is -15c on the low mountains (thats the high) so I will not be going too high (it was -35c on the higher portions) I took a train from Munich here, once we got into Switzerland the mountains were incredible, somany high peaks covered in snow. It is a beautiful country. I hope to have some pictures if my camera doesnt freeze. After snowboarding tomorrow I will take a night train to Rome to see Nadja a good friend I havent seen in 4 years. Snowboarding was pretty great, my rental equipment left a little to be desired but the setting mde up for it. It was pretty cold but not horribly so. The mountain range is huge and you can ski all over the place, ... read more

Sounds crazy but when you meet Katy's mom your only option is to eat like crazy. I ate 2 huge lunches at their house and didn't have to eat again, but of course we did. We drank a great meal at the HofBrauHouse. We spent one day visiting Ludwig's catles, very nice and super snowy. We visited Dachau (a concentration camp) on the 60 aniversary of Auschwitz, very sobering. Overall Munich proved to be a vry fun place to visit and it lived up to my expectations that all of Germany should eb covered in snow...... read more
