Distance travelled - 46 miles/74 km’s Yesterday we smelt hot, well today we looked hot after riding through the dirt, mud and rain!! We’ve hit 278km and I think it’s safe to say we’ve cycled into paradise! Keeree Waree Resort in Ban Krut is absolutely stunning. We’ve rolled into an amazing sanctuary of garden villas that come complete with outdoor showers - what more could we ask for after the messy day we’ve had. And guess who got their daily rituals massages booked in first at the day spa... the cool cats - yes that’s us! So how was our day and why was the shower so freakin good at the end of it? We left Prachuap Khiri Khan this morning (sorry Daniel no sunrise over the mountains), rode through the Air Force for a quick ... read more

Distance travelled: 74 miles/120 km’s Today was an extremely eventful day that started with a mosquito attack at 4am! Anyone that knows me well will know that whenever I visit a hot country where the mosquito count outnumbers that of humans, I always get bitten on my eyelids, no where else... just my face! So I woke up this morning to 5 bites which included one on my lip, chin, side of my face and two around my left eye. What a great start to one of the bigger days on the tour. The real story... Kelly punched me out because I stole the bed by the window! Mosquito attacks aside, last night Kel and I pimped our bikes so we now have streamers, baskets, spokey dokes and road kill to keep us going over the ... read more

Distance travelled - 52 miles/84 km’s What a day! First day and 84km’s down, 7 days and just 716km’s to go. A few words to describe how we’re both feeling right now... exhausted and sore - which translates to Kelly is rooted and can’t talk - but pumped and excited about being part of such an amazing journey. And the legs are feeling marginally relieved after an hour foot massage at the night markets tonight. We were introduced to our bikes this morning who I’m sure we’ll be building a close relationship with over the next week. At this point I must do a shout out and thanks to Jules from O2 Speakers who saved my back side by providing me with a comfy seat although still feeling the need for the butt cream!! And what ... read more

It’s 10:30pm on the eve of our ride and we’re sitting in our room after a quick dash to Patpong Night Markets preparing for the start of the ride tomorrow morning and laughing at all the crap we’ve brought along. Kel is also looking at the maps for the next four days and is panicking slightly at the graph of the hills on day 4! Tonight we met our fellow riders and we were taken to Klong Toey Slum where the Duang Prateep Foundation is located. It is in these slums that the poorest people live. The people are friendly with nothing to offer but a sincere smile which certainly makes you think about how much we take for granted. The slums are a maze of never ending laneways with roaming cocks (roosters) and a Shar ... read more

Well this it it! We’ve hit Bangkok and suddenly the last 8 months are becoming a reality. Yesterday was a day of high emotions starting with a frantic run around to find a bike shop that could take my pedals off - let me tell you there aren’t many bike shops open on public holidays! Armed with my removed pedals, toe clips (just in case I chicken out of using my road pedals) and a jersey to wear in Thailand courtesy of cell bikes I headed home to finish my packing and go to my nephew Zach’s third birthday party. Then it was off to the airport to meet Kel and the rest of the riders heading to Bangkok on QF001. After several phone calls from friends, some very tight hugs goodbye and words of encouragement ... read more
